This episode turned out to be a disappointment, even though it had its normal funny remarks and interesting survival tips. It's just that the guys were never threatened by the hippos. Dave and Cody kept building up some sort of suspense but nothing every happened. The hippos stayed off in the distance and did nothing. The episode kept trying to scare us but never pulled it off. It was just another exercise in how to get different kinds of food and mainly how to build a grass boat so they could paddle their way out of there.
"There" is the Okavango Delta in the vast flood plain in Botswana. The boys are armed only with a GPS and a pair of binoculars.
We learn some interesting facts on hippos, such as how big they are and how they sometimes attack and overturn boats. We learn how they make trails, all about their poop (Cody seems to always find poop fascinating), eating nuts from elephant poop and assorted other tasty treats.
We also learn that Cody has gone barefoot for over 20 years....at least on his adventures in Arizona and around the world.
