A talented free runner is killed, and another badly injured, Van Der Valk and his new team members are hunting down a dangerous sniper, but why is the sniper targeting free runners?
It's a pretty good return, an enjoyable start to the third series. Let's be honest this is as far away from any of the original Van Der Valk run as you could possibly imagine, it feels very modern, very up to date.
The case was interesting, and allowed for some nice visuals, I've always been fascinated by free runners, some talent on show here.
Obviously there's more going on than meets the eye, and the case allows for a good introduction for the two new characters, in come Eddie Suleman and Citra Li, out go de Vries and Cloovers, I liked the changes personally.
If I'm honest, I felt like it was drawn out in parts, some scenes were overlong, but it was engaging enough. I thought I'd figured out whodunnit, but there's a definite twist near the end.
Marc Warren is definitely growing more so into the part, and for me he was the standout, some of the supporting actors were a little bit off par.
7/10.
