Disappointing conclusion, leaves questions unanswered
lor_13 July 2015
I enjoyed this Part 2 for its hot sex and nostalgia value, but wish that auteur Nica Noelle had pursued the dramatic arcs set up in Part 1. I will be watching the third installment to see if that more or less stand-alone effort is more satisfying.

Action picks up from Part 1 (see my separate review) with Elexis Monroe doing a sort of recap, reciting events that have occurred since last we met. She's packing stuff and chatting with Sinn Sage, a welcome addition to the cast. She mentions in passing that Nica's son has gone away to college at Oxford, perhaps returning home for Spring Break. That is a roundabout way of saying that he (portrayed by Doug Farel in Part 1) has been dropped.

Elexis also mentions that she had a lesbian fling with Micah Moore (limned in Part 1), music to Sinn's ears, as the lesbian icon tells Elexis: "I'm gay too". Without hesitation Sage puts the moves on Elexis and a very arousing sex scene results. These two pros seem to be doing a choreographed dance, Sinn's sinuous movements especially dance-like, detracting from the vignette's spontaneity.

Heather Silk is introduced with a slow pan from her feet up her body, as she's on the phone with Kylie Ireland, again giving much exposition to the viewer. Silk is Kylie's sister and she talks of Mia Presley as Nica's sister. Nica's off to visit her childhood home, accompanied by pal and helper Elexis, which she's inherited after the death of the place's caretaker -she hasn't been back in 20 years. One room had been rented out to Samantha Ryan, who is there, making love to Part 1's vixen Trinity Post. In the process, Post is two-timing her older lover Mae Victoria, who, sadly like Nica's son, has been written out of this conclusion. As usual with Trinity around, this segment has plenty of conflict, but ultimately Ryan and Post are hot in the sack, and Ryan (as blonde here) displays the beauty that sets her apart from the rest of Nica's cast.

Meanwhile, the two sisters of the principals wander through the old house up to the attic. There the beautiful young Presley and Silk have sex without much preamble -this is a satisfying vignette but qualifies as the "extraneous sex for variety" that is part and parcel of Nica's Sweetheart Video format.

Lengthy finale begins with Nica cleaning up the place when she runs into Trinity. Post is flustered in a "why do we keep meeting like this" manner, since she had no idea Nica would be the visiting owner to the place where her lover Ryan is living. Conversation turns quickly to "what about Mae Victoria" and Post threatens Nica if latter were to dare tell Mae about spotting Trinity with another woman. (Always good for a brawl, Trinity is the only character Nica has invited back to the series for Volume 3.)

Nica finds a box in the attic that contains an old diary she kept in the early 1980s. She reads it aloud, detailing her friendship with Kylie Ireland, bringing back memories.

Silk has sent Elexis off for a free treatment at sis' beauty salon, so we find salon owner Kylie Ireland grooming Elexis's hair there. The video's low budget is glaringly evident in an under-dressed unconvincing set representing the salon, and when voracious Kylie invites Elexis to a private back room for some relaxing "me time" (translation: den of seduction), that set with couch and floor for humping is equally meager.

Kylie's natural looking red hair (unlike her later fake-fake red 'do that resembles a wig in subsequent videos) is a pleasant surprise, and her cat & mouse sex scene with Elexis is near-classic with their constant confrontational back & forth banter -neither one clamming up during the Lesbian clinches. Much of what they say is tongue in cheek and I found it all delightful, almost reminiscent of that great off- Broadway play (due for revivals) "A Couple of White Chicks Sitting Around Talking".

A sidelight is that this video is one of Nica's earliest for Sweet Sinner, and has a rare dual soundtrack (English vs. French choice) on the DVD reflecting the label's Quebec headquarters. I tried out the dubbed-into-French version and especially Kylie gets a wonderful new voice, and it's a riot listening to the professional dubbers in Montreal simulating groans and sounds of sex like smooching lips for the alternate version -quite unlike the groan-inducing crappiness of those European action films I used to watch dubbed-into English (in syndication packages) on TV as a kid.

The thrill of this LESBIAN CHRONICLES sequel is to see an uninhibited Kylie Ireland in action, but the video is sorely missing a more interesting story embellishing on the spine of Nica's "you can't go home again" premise.
