Awards season might be just behind us but that's just an opportunity to look forward to next year.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the date for one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies on the social calendar - the Orange British Academy Film Awards (or BAFTAs) will take place on Sunday 12th February 2012 at the Royal Opera House in London with nominations being announced for the ceremony on Tuesday 17th January.

The BAFTAs are the Academy's highest film honours, this year The King's Speech took the ceremony by storm, having been nominated in 14 categories and winning 7 including 'Best Leading Actor' (Colin Firth), 'Best Supporting Actress' (Helena Bonham Carter), 'Best Supporting Actor' (Geoffrey Rush) and the coveted 'Best Film' award. Other winners included The Social Network for 'Best Director' and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for 'Film not in the English Language'.
