John de Lancie, an actor who had some roles in big-time movies, plays Judge Avery Staynor in Carthay Circle, from the first and only season of Law and Order: Los Angeles. It's a shame there was only one season. I'm finally catching up on the episodes after they debuted over a decade ago, so ages ago. Anyway, I think Law and Order: Los Angeles was somewhat underrated and it's a shame NBC didn't give it a chance to grow just like it did with Seinfeld. Perhaps Dick Wolf needed to bring some big names across from the Law and Order series like Chris Noth to give the new series some gravitas to survive sweeps.
