Don't get me wrong. The "family" non-super stuff is okay. But the Superman stuff is what we're tuning in for, right? And this year the Superman plotline is up to speed. I'm not sure I buy or understand everything that's going on. Why is Bizarro from the other world all white-skinned and has reverse powers? Why is the sky red-sunned? Where the heck are John and Natalie? What was the point of making them main-credited stars if they've been absent from at least two of the first seven episodes? What's the connection between their world and Bizarro World?
But I like Adam Raynor a lot more this season than last season, where he gets to be more than just a mustache-twirling villain. And Sam, too. Jordan seems to have taken a back burner to Jon getting a major storyline, as the Jordan/Sarah romance plods along and they seem to be apart more than together. Maybe that's the point?
But watching Tal play the anti-hero is well worth the price of admission. It's a pity the Superman/U. S. government thing is a here today/gone tomorrow sort of storyline. But we got Mitch as a bad guy, now, giving Ally some oomph in the superpowers category. Hers is another storyline that I'm waiting for more explanation on. What's her family's connection between Bizarro world, and the pendants, and changing worlds? And how does it fit into the whole multiverse thing? Or does it?
Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois is both good and bad. Tulloch isn't bad, and I grok her version of Lois. I just wish they would give Lois more to do. Like in the comics, she's mostly there to "humanize" Superman. And give him a human anchor. Her whole relationship with Lucy, which connects to Ally, isn't doing anything for me. Tyler Hoechlin is also good: I liked him laying into Jon at the end, and it's the first time he seemed... involved with his sons.
But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?
