Still Worried
mdb-0653013 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As I mentioned in my review of the last episode I was worried that the show was starting to head down. I still feel this way.

Starting with Turner, maybe I am just not understanding, but as I said in my last review, why is Turner worried about Mrs. Russell exposing her because as soon as she walks into the Russell House she will be. Guess what happened? As soon as she walked in she was recognized by Weber and the gossip started amongst the servants. Now I know servants don't really interact with their employers, but obviously word is going to spread to the upper-class without Mrs. Russell saying a word or at least it should.

Marian and Dashell - we know things are going to escalate, but now it's starting to seem forced. By the way did anyone notice that in the last episode after Marian goes out of her way to say her and Dashell are not related, she has since called him "Cousin Dashell" when in the company of others.

Peggy and the South - Gee, did we really need coming attractions to know that Peggy's visit to the South is going to suck?

Mr. Russell and the Union - I like this storyline, some good historical fiction right here. Also the production does a great job in showing how Henderson is working class compared to the Russell's, not just in how he is dressed, but his mannerisms, how he eats, holds a fork, etc, fine acting on his part, which as a result, just highlights the acting of Carrie Soon and Morgan Spector.

Distrust
Hitchcoc13 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
At the center of this episode is Bertha's discovery that the former servant had jumped in the sack with George. She decides to punish him and it hangs over the episode. She also decides to force the rich people in the two universes to decide which opera company to pick from, the new Met or the old staid one. George confronts the union leader and we know that nothing calm will come out of that when the guy turns him down. Both sides appear to face a future of violence. Peggy talks her editor into taking her to set up a story with George Washington Carver. Her mother warns her about her naivete when it comes to the South and black people. She seems to always get her way, and that may not be such a good thing. Also, the Russells' son is shacking up with the rich widow. Lots of cool plot lines are steaming up.

Great Episode with 1 Bad Actor
bazinga-mage8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The episode is a great progression in the storyline , however one scene, one actor in particular was awful. The scene where the mill workers are discussing their next course of action against Mr. Russell, one of the men (I believe actor Todd A. Horman as a role of Mill Leader) asks whether Mr. Russell knows they're prepared to strike, his delivery of his next line 'Then we should prepare. When the time comes we must be ready to strike, ready to fight' was just terrible acting. It was overly dramaticized, terribly delivered, and over the top. It felt incredibly out of place compared to the other actors in the scene.
