A Good Soldier (2003)

*** (out of 4)

This ten-minute featurette can be found on the TURKEY SHOOT disc from Anchor Bay and features that film's director talking about the cult picture. The director starts off talking about the various issues with the production, which caused the first portion of the script to be thrown out and he then goes into details about other big scenes that had to be cut. From here we learn about various other issues with the production including unhappy cast members and of course the release of the picture, which ended up making a lot of money but the critics hated it. Trenchard-Smith really does come across as a good sport here and he's clearly being very honest about his opinions on the movie. He talks about the various faults with the film and openly discusses what happened and why the film turned out so bad. He also makes it clear that there are different responsibilities of a director and for a film like this he says he thought it was best to get the money back for the investors who put up the cash. Overall this is a pretty fun interview that covers the majority of the feature.
