The 11th season of "Death in Paradise" has been a pretty enjoyable so far. I was looking forward to this episode, because a lot of people have said it to be the best of the season. Personally, I found this entry to be pretty good, but not as good as the previous one.
Let's start with the good aspects, shall we?
. The production values of this episode are great. The episode looks good and the music fits the beautiful scenery. The acting's solid for the most part, except for Ben Starr, who tries to be charismatic, but it doesn't always work (though he is not bad). Josephine Jobert and all of the other regulars continue to be lovely in their roles. Out of the guest stars William Gaminara gives a very good, endeering performance.
. The mystery is very compelling. There are some interesting characters and the murder mystery has good twists and turns. At times, this story got surprisingly deep. The subplot with Florence deciding to accept the job to become an undercover agent was very-well done.
But...
. I was quite disappointed by the solution to the mystery. Even though the motive for the murder was buyable, the identity of the killer (Chris) was not a surprise in any way. The whole way how the solution was handled, felt kind of dull and predictable for me.
Overall, very good, but not great.
8/10 HK.
