. . . set in 17th Century France. Many weapons are pictured, but few if any of them are personal firearms. The bulk of the war implements shown here are swords and cannons. The characters are animated, so injuries likely to cause immediate or imminent mortality in Real Life occur with surprising frequency, and the wounded party soon reappears none the worse for wear. This may give impressionable toddlers incorrect ideas, should they see THE VOLUNTEERS and soon after stumble across lethal adult weapons if they are unsupervised.
