Same Old Welk

This show to honor Jerome Kern dates back more the 47 years. It underscores how rule number one for all his arrangers was to keep the piece to 2 minutes or less. It was how he got all the acts into 45 minutes. Clay Hart breaks the theme with a song by Ronny Milsap.

I have no idea why PBS screened this today...Easter Sunday...with so many programs they have in the vault dedicated to the holiday.

Parents!!! Wonderful Background Music for the Day
grampsgirl18 March 2016
This show is of a day and age when the understanding was some things were for children and some for adults, but no one felt the need to be reach toward vulgarity in order to make a production appealing to the adult audience. As a parent of young boys, it is wonderful to be able to let this play in the background while we go about our day....

I do not need to keep a vigilant ear for the need to switch stations/channels, mute, or fast forward in order to give my children a childhood complete with an innocence to vulgarity and obscenity. My favorite directors are Terrentino and Burton, but I know I am better able to appreciate the garishness of such artist's works due to my ability to form a valid contrast in my experiences. Children loose that ability of reflection if they are denied a certain amount of innocence. Kudos KTWB to PBS for re-airing this show!
