The high and lows of fatherhood. Thank you TiU

For showing the struggles dad's go thru too when raising and connecting with their children. I feel like it's not shown much on tv media or film and when it happens it's special. Randal; Kevin, Jack and Toby went thru realistic problems every father does including the sacrifices that they have to make to keep their kids/family happy. Most importantly tho it was more about the struggles of parenting the stuff both moms & dad's go thru and how they meet in the middle to parent. All in all great episode about lessons learned thru fatherhood.

Loved the babies

Loved Randall and Beth's initial and then thought out reaction to Dejas voice mail. Rebecca as a mom, floating above us all. We can not compete. She makes everything perfect for everyone, not fair for her. It was not in the stars for her to be compensated for her sublimity. Toby and Kate story line....still a stretch... how are you all going to make sense of this (?)

A Look at the Men
Hitchcoc25 May 2024
There are four stories here and each tests the mettle of the character. Some are fine; some are not. The whole thing with Deja and her boyfriend is too much. There are times when there is no negotiating. That Romeo and Juliet stuff is a crock. Those were families that were at war with one another. I suppose because Randall is so afraid of offending the girl, he can't get tough with her. The fact of the matter is, he didn't have enough money for necessities and extra college expenses. How could they live? They are children. Toby is doing his thing. Enough said. Jack falls asleep and Kevin takes off at the mall. Gee. I guess he's just a free spirit. Kevin is trying to balance things with his painful situation. His is at least a real issue based on his self centeredness at the outset. None of them come out smelling like a rose.

Wrong messaging

Warning: Spoilers
I find myself struggling as of late, trying to understand the message this series is sending to parents and children. Deja lies to her parents, takes off on a cross-country trip and then spends the weekend sleeping with her high-school boyfriend. Randall and Beth eventually find out the truth and decide to punish her by...wait for it...apologizing to her for treating her like a child?? What the??

Jack takes his three kids to the movies and while he dozed off, little Kevin decided to sneak off on his own to explore the mall. Consequences? None! Did they explain to little Kevin why he was wrong to do what he did? No.

Kate and Toby's grown up son, Jack, is blind, but expertly flips burgers on his barbecue grill just like millions of other Americans. His disability is of zero consequence. He may be blind, but rest assured, he's just the same as everyone else. His blindness is a mere cosmetic inconvenience.

This show was brilliant when it started back in the day, but the wokeness as of late is wearing really thin, to the point of incredulity.
