Hi bones booth!

I don't know why but this episode always irritates me! It isn't a bad case or anything - kinda interesting and somehow I ALWAYS forgot who the actual killer is every single time even when we get down to the water glass part I'm still trying to remember who it is - but I kinda like how that whole part plays out.

But my main gripe is how awkward that last scene with Hannah and bones is. The sunglasses thing is SOOOO cringy idk why!!!!! And bones always seems unsure of herself and different around her. Which I guess is great acting bc we can tell her comfort level with her normal peeps and how at ease she is with them. But yeah idk something rubs me the wrong way every time that scene comes up.

Also, that scene in the hospital room earlier when booth says thank you to bones they stay like 40 seconds longer at each other than they should right in front of Hannah and when they pan away to a fuller view Hannah isn't looking in their direction we're supposed to believe she just fell asleep and started resting and not watching bones and booth interact? Yeah NO WAY. Lol.

Great investigation, annoying towards the end.

It's an easy 10/10 for the investigation side of this episode. I believe it was very well done. Hannah knocks this episode down several stars in my opinion. I actually like Hannah up until this episode. I really don't like how she takes advantage of Temperance's adherence to cultural practices with the sunglasses. Yes, saving her life should have absolutely been enough of a "gift" for her. The whole scene feels awkwardly out of place.

Hannah *eye roll*

Warning: Spoilers
I'll talk about the case for the week in a minute, but first, a rant about Hannah.

The past couple of episodes that she has been in, I haven't minded too much. I mean obviously she is with Booth and Bones isn't so I don't love that, but she's been alright. Until this episode. Now, she just bothers me. At the beginning of the episode, after Booth decides to make her a nice meal, she walks in the apartment and asks if he is going to propose. No, Hannah, he isn't, calm down. Next, Hannah decides to pursue this risky story, which is a cool enough idea. But, towards the end of the episode I just could not stand her. Especially when she basically forces Bones to give her the sunglasses as a gift for visiting her in the hospital. Because literally saving her life was not enough, Bones had to give up a pair of sunglasses. On this subject, I did find it amusing that Bones reviewed Hannah's x-rays without permission, similarly to what she did to Booth a couple of seasons ago. While Bones did save Hannah's life by looking at the x-rays, she should probably get permission for that next time. And whatever doctor gave her those x-rays should be sued for a HIPAA violation. But overall, I cannot stand Hannah.

As for the case this week, it was a cool idea. As the title alludes to, there actually weren't any bones for the team to look at this week. Due to a bone eating fugus (unsure if this is an actual thing), the team has to work with a 3D model of the bones. I feel like the actual case was really interesting with a lot of twists.

If it weren't for the Hannah storyline, this would have been at least an 8 for me.

Best part: seeing the reenactment between Bones and Hodgins

Worst part: Hannah. Literally everything about Hannah.

First, Hello to the Bones Booth.:)

Agree with the other reviewers about the cringe factor of Hannah asking Bones for her sunglasses. And actually the whole Hannah "B plot" was uninteresting in my opinion.

My favorite part about this episode though is watching Russell played by Stephen 'Twitch' Boss dance. (especially now after his passing last December.) I miss him. I was upset when he was a suspect. Even though upon the 3rd or 4th rewatch I can't remember who the killer was.

It was also fun to see Bones and Hodgins reenact the crime.

Overall it was a fine episode, I love the show but lots of annoying moments with Hannah in the hospital. So for that it's not a 10.

Sunglasses-gate

Hiya Bones Booth - and happy birthday Maggie (and me teehee) for when the episode comes out! (If there ends up being a break and this episode doesn't end up coming out on 7th june, pretend I didn't say that).

Outside of the b-plot with Hannah, this episode is pretty forgettable, I even forgot who the killer was. However, I have a lot of feelings about the last scene.

I'm sure it was supposed to come off more jokey, but the whole thing of Hannah talking Brennan into giving her sunglasses to her is so weird and off. I don't particularly dislike Hannah usually, she's lovely, and the scene earlier in the episode where Brennan saves her life is really sweet, but the sunglasses thing just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I'm just not in hospitals very often but I don't think I've ever heard that it's customary to bring a gift when visiting someone outside of this episode.

Anyway, it's still a pretty fun episode since we don't actually have bones to work with and it's nice to have Arastoo back, it's just not one of the heavy hitters we have this season, 8/10.

Hannah.

Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely love the show...except for the Hannah storyline. I like her as a character, (but not as much as Brennan, for obvious reasons) but I feel like she has really no addition to the plot besides being an obstacle to Booth and Brennan's relationship.

I kind of wished we would have seen Hannah walking around and talking to people and then getting shot? We only see Booth answering the phone and immediately running off to Hannah with the single sentence, "Hannah got shot." One of my favorite parts of the episode though is when Brennan comes and visits her and the interactions they have. One of my favorite budding friendships in this show.

Okay with some oddities

This episode of bones is fine. It's not a stand out episode by any means, though. While overall, I'm a fan, there are some really odd inclusions that make me read the episode a little lower. I feel like seven stars as me being relatively generous.

Is booth wearing slide-on sneakers with his business suit in the opening scene? I thought he had a senior position with the FBI.

Where in the DC area are these performers? Suspicious of that one, though it does create a small Agatha-Christie-style cast of suspects.

Is Hannah's hospital bed child-sized?! I can't get over it. She doesn't appear to be a giant so what is up.

Interesting Setup
Hitchcoc10 February 2023
The episode begins when a skateboarder, trespassing on a construction site, lands hard, separating the concrete and producing a skull. The difficulty in the investigation is that the skeleton has been buried in the concrete and dissolved, leaving a fossil. The techies get on it and reproduce it using the original as a mold. It is determined that the guy was probably a dancer so that sets things in motion. It ends up with several buskers doing their things. We have the continuing saga of Hanna and Brennan which has gone about as far as it can go. There is a very odd scene at the end that seems disingenuous and silly.
