The atmosphere of fin de siecle at Garnier Opera is the first virtue of this animation about friendship, sacrifices, glamour, men and ballerinas, tenatious young woman and money troubles. A sweet - cold film, seductive, bitter, precise portrait of a beautiful world at the first sigh and its roots.

The beautiful art style is the only interesting thing about Louise, which suffers from half-baked feminist & classist notions that lack any teeth or substance.
