It's a mediocre film.
angelriannaespares3 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
You might ask me why I rated it 5 out of 10. I have reasons why. First, the film went on a great start and I liked the storyline but the flow of the story is really slow and kinda boring if you didn't like this kind of films. Third, the scenery is so amazing and beautiful. Fourthly, the acting of Janine and Archie is so good. And lastly, for me, the only thing that ruined the film is the ending. The cause of death of Edong is not really spoken in the film, the people might think he maybe drowned or Manny killed him or he just drifted away from that place. And it's never really specified if Manny was a gay, even though we have these signs where he is teased by another gay and he says "Am I that obvious?" and then the part where he is crying when Edong told him that he is gonna try to court Dee, and the reason why he must be drinking in the Beach after the wedding. Plus they should've left Dee a child from Edong, at least their love isn't in vain, it's like their love story is only a joke. But I appreciate the efforts of the cast and crew that this film has.

Contrived chemistry, bad writing, zero entertainment value
todd-ramirez29 January 2022
Dunno where to start with this one. One has to concoct what little chemistry is possible between the two lovers but the attempt has little chance of success. Where KITA KITA succeeds, this film miserably fails.

The story goes nowhere, thanks to the poor to mediocre writing which could have been written by a high school freshman. I must have used the forward button on my Siri remote 100x throughout the film.

Hardly any intelligent dialog here. And subplots - like the auntie's romance and the Lola's health issues - barely add value to an already lean main plot.

The ending certainly disappoints, but may succeed making viewers sad, even cry. I didn't cry. Instead I was relieved the film - finally! - ended. What a waste.

Cinematography
jasoncreyes1 February 2022
This movie currently sits Top seven in Netflix upon this writing, 😓 Beautiful places. Waste of talent. They did not put some effort in the story. No substance only Cinematography.

Romance with an Eddie Akau twist
Mauilifeforme26 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a romantic at heart and truly enjoy the boy meets girl, they fall out, and, then get back together storylines.

A little drama in the middle of the movie to make it possible for the reconciliation and live happily ever after romantic endings.

In other words, escaping from our normal lives and a respite for an hour or two from the non-stop drama in the real world.

A beautiful smile, eyes that light up when the romantic leads see each other, holding hands, etc., etc., etc.

So, spoiler alert here: I am not a happy camper with the Eddie Akau twist added to the end of this movie.

For those of you reading my comments, look up the movie "Eddie Would Go", or do a search of his name, and you'll find out quickly enough about how this movie ends.

Please don't get me wrong, I truly enjoyed the overall progression of the movie, enthusiasm by the actors and actresses, and a fairly genuine depiction of how I as a haole American have been experiencing the Phillipine culture with my own Filipina.

With that in mind, I will be a little more careful in my choice of Phillipine romance movies if I want a Hallmark ending.

FWIW, I too, lost a lover in a tragic accident as a young adult, and this movie hit hard, despite its gentle and respectful portrayal of how sometimes it's real life, not make believe.

Thanks for reading, and, that's about all I have to say on the matter.

I should have trusted my friend when she said this is one of the worst films she's ever watched
kindaephemeral5 February 2022
On their own, the lead are good actors. But sadly, there's no hint of chemistry between them. Mas nakakakilig pa view na Bicol!

The delivery of lines seems unnatural for most characters. The lines were dull-- particularly in those scenes that you know are trying to be comedic. Nothing remarkable.

The story was going nowhere. I just kept watching because I was expecting something to happen. And when something did at the end, it felt like it came from nowhere! Like, wtf? If the ending is the ultimate goal, there were no build-ups or anything that will make you sympathize with what happened.

Only good thing about this movie was Sorsogon
JillyBillyNilly2 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I really wish the script was written better. Or maybe differently. Or someone should have just scrapped it and written an entirely new script.

It started out okay but typical- successful real estate broker Dee has bad luck with love, goes back home to her province for grandmother's birthday and falls for forgotten high school classmate, simple provincial copra/making tuba-drinking everyman Edong. Both are orphaned, both have lives of their own.

Along the way the grandma gets sick and her restaurant closes, Dee learns to cook, her auntie has an old lover who she ignores but yearns for, they go to the beach and have fun but adding is said because has to sell half his land, they admit they like each other, auntie elopes with lover, dee decides to move back to the city but decides to stay, Edong declares his love, they become bf/gf, then he proposes, they get married, then he gets lost in sea and is presumed dead.

This was probably supposed to be a multi-episodic teleserye (telenovela) but instead turned it into a 2-hr movie. Too many storylines that didn't necessarily move the story forward, weren't cohesive, and came out of nowhere. I'm all for a tragic storyline, it's sad but it happens-but why did it need to happen here? There was no smoking gun, there was no set-up, there was nothing except the movie people wanting to end the movie with some forced tears. Like another reviewer mentioned, all I felt in the end was relief that the movie finally ended, and i could sufficiently say that I didn't like it.

I have been a fan of Pepe Herrera ever since I watched him in Rak of Aegis, I think he's a great comedic dramatic actor and I'm genuinely confused why he is in this. As for Janine Gutierrez, she's cute but can't act to save this movie-as far as I can see, she's a product of a long line of actors and her grandma in the movie is in fact her grandma in real life and that's what she has going for her.

I know this way too wordy for a negative review but...they just wasted the beauty that was Bicol on this badly written story. The setting was the best character in the whole movie.

You have been warned not to waste your time here
eilujnyleinna30 January 2024
If I could, I would just copy and then paste the reviews about this movie. All on point. No exaggeration.

I like Janine and Pepe and so was all characters. But the stiry, the writing style and the lines just bored me to death. I kept waiting for the movie to be justified but no.

Good actors was not enough to make a good movie pala talaga...

Hay its just a waste. It doesn't click. The story was like a joke. Oh no. I hate this movie to the point that I felt resentment that it waste more than an hour of my time. Hay naku.

Sub plots, as they were just too lame. Was the writer drunk when she/he/they wrote this junk?
