Good, but somehow missing some spark.

Charlie and his wife attend a lavish Gala, where Raymond delights in taunting him. Conrad receives his sentence from The Judge, who handsome out a tough justice.

I'm really waiting for this to catch fire, at this midway point, it somehow still feels as if it's stuck in second gear, I know it has the potential to really burst into flames, but so far, I'm just not getting that vibe.

Jeff Daniels is definitely elevating it, without him I think it would have been a little flat, but as it stands, he's making it interesting.

What is it with that Judge, is it personal, is he going after Conrad for a specific reason?

It's very stylish, and The Gala in particular looked amazing, some great music too.

6/10.

Where Are We Going?

I have to agree with the other reviewer. Daniels is great, but things are plodding along. There are only six episodes and there is little to question. The sad part of this is the poor guy who slugged the policeman after being smashed excessively into the car. The judge is obviously a racist, meting out punishment with abandon. We see what it is like to be booked into a harsh prison. Meanwhile, Charlie does everything wrong as he takes some rich friends to Turpntine, his ranch. So far he has lost at every juncture. As we move into the second half of this, there needs to be some movement. The gala is interesting, especially as Peepgrass drinks too much and revels in his lush situation.
