Conning ones father
Tweekums26 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
As the episode opens the gang are executing a con which should net then an easy £50,000 the mark has the cash and has been distracted and all that is left is for Sean to switch cases and walk away; nothing can go wrong... or so it would seem. Just as he is about to make the switch Sean spots a man he recognises and follows him into the lift but doesn't talk to him. It soon becomes clear why Sean was so distracted, the man was his father who abandoned him and Emma when they were young children. Against the advice of the others Sean is determined that they will con his father out of the amount of money he owed in child support. As his father is trying to sell an derelict building plot Sean decides to convince him that their is treasure there from a plane shot down in the war. It all seems to be going well until he asks his father for a finder's fee and instead of paying him off he says he can't let him go with such a small amount but will give him half the earnings from the treasure when it is found... he seems to be genuine.

I've deliberately left out the details of the con as they are half the fun of the show. Danny Webb does a good job as Sean and Emma's estranged father and it was fun to see Eddie get a chance to help the team even if once again he was left feeling somewhat used.

Sean's tantrum
jay-374099 February 2022
I was never a fan of the introduction of the brother and sister to replace the departure of Danny and Stacie. Emma came off as bland and Sean was always a petulant child that wanted his own way all the time.

This episode just highlights how tiresome Matt di Angelo and his character is. He wants to charge in and run a con on the father that abandoned him and his sister when they were toddlers. His recklessness risks bringing the team down. At every stage the team had to rein him in and course correct his angry tantrum.

The only thing to recommend this episode is Eddie coming to the rescue and using his WWII knowledge to save the con, and the day.
