We're all nobody until somebody notices us, right? That's probably what Simon Cowell is hoping with the choice of Steve Jones as the co-host of the American version of his reality singing competition, "The X Factor."
Yes, the former model is well-known to British audiences thanks to appearances on a number of popular shows, including the children's variety program "T4," the "Guinness World Records Smashed!" special as well as upcoming series “Drop Zone,” “Wedding Crashers” and “101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow.”
But in America? He's as blank a slate as a guy named Ryan Seacrest was before "American Idol" launched in 2002. It's hard to remember now, but back then Seacrest was just a radio guy in Los Angeles, not the new Dick Clark with an exploding multi-media empire that threatens to swallow all of entertainment.
Same with Cat Deeley, who came to fame in the U.K. hosting Saturday morning...

Everyone's favorite reality-tv couple are back together. After weeks of rumors and a reported 11th-hour contract signing that nearly derailed the first day of auditions, former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul has officially taken her seat beside her ex-"Idol" sparring partner Simon Cowell on his upcoming U.S. version of "The X Factor."
Announced on Sunday evening, the addition of Abdul to the show completes the judging panel, which also includes former music executive Antonio "L.A." Reid and British singer and U.K. "X Factor" judge Cheryl Cole.
"This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can't believe I am saying this — I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she's on the show," said Cowell in a statement announcing the long-rumored news.

Let's get this out of the way immediately: No, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols is not the new co-host of Fox's "The X Factor."
While that would've been totally awesome, we're sure the 34-year-old Welshman of the same name will do a bang up job alongside ex-Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. Even if he can't play guitar to "Anarchy in the U.K."
So who is the guy?
According to a press release from Fox, Jones is a native of Rhondda, Glamorgan, Wales who traded up from a modeling career to TV hosting gigs in the U.K.:
Jones' credits include the late-night series "Transmission," the marathon music show "Carling Live 24," seven years on the incredibly popular children's weekend morning entertainment show "T4," two installments of "Let's Dance for Comic Relief" and the special "Guinness World Records Smashed!" He will next be seen [in the U.K.] hosting "Drop Zone," "Wedding Crashers" and "101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow,...
