We actually got a bit of a shock here. When the man was spared once in the beginning I did not think they would revisit it so soon. A brutal death scene that did not shy away from showing it in action. I do have to question why Alan did not try to intervene more forcefully or at all. He shouted for the mother but did not try to get close enough to Sam to stop him. Did he worry about protecting his own life, was he worried about him being killed off at the same time? Questions we may or may not get an answer to in the back half of the episodes.

This is a good show, only complaint is sometimes the pacing is a bit off.

Becoming a bit repetitive

At this point, I feel like there needs to be something else added that isn't fast food product placement, peeing, or therapy sessions that go in circles. I get that the focus is between Sam and Alan, and their conversations can be interesting, but I wish they'd focus somewhat on the Strausses realizing their father is missing or even Elias' disappearance. Instead it's becoming the same formula every week, now with the added misfortune of Kenny Chesney being brought up every five minutes. It's becoming almost a drag to watch when it's unclear if the narrative is ever going to pick up. We are now halfway through the series and not much has changed for any of the characters.
