THE BECKONING is an extremely low budget suspense thriller made in California. The writer of this attempts to tie an interesting historical subtext into the present day story of a woman with a mysterious connection to the past, but unfortunately it's the present day material that makes this such a chore to watch. The film is all talk, extremely long-winded, and has a cheap TV series kind of look to it that robs it of interest. Don't expect any FX or real incident taking place. Given that it's based on a supposedly true story I wonder if a documentary would have been better.
