Not Creepshow
ken-abhalter19 October 2021
This episode was not even close to the Creepshow we know and love.

Stranger Sings: great practical effects, blah, boring and predictable story. 10/10 on the "woke meter, 5/10 on the Creepshow meter.

Meter Reader: half the runtime was spent explaining what was going on. Might be a premise for a full length movie (but please...don't). Creepshow it ain't. 5/10 on the Creepshow meter.

Voice change to date a Dr. and the demonic pandemic!
blanbrn16 October 2021
This episode 4 of season 3 of "Shudder's", "Creepshow" series featured two scary and gore like segments called "Stranger Sings and Meter Reader" and both were pretty interesting and entertaining.

First up was "Stranger Sings" about a lonely divorced male doctor who checks out females both in and out of the office, and things change one day when he meets a lady at a book store. Upon doing a date in her home her mystic siren like past is revealed with another woman. And a gruesome plan involves a surgery and changing of voice boxes to sing, this episode twist and the doctor has a new date.

Then "Meter Reader" is timely as it involves the days of a pandemic and crazy uncertain times. And a man is a so called "Meter Reader" only after he gets more than he bargained for after seeing a home with a little demon girl, now his family has the demonic plague(love some of "The Exorcist" parody the bed scene, pee soup, and wall crawling!) Overall another gore like blood filled scary episode of the series.

First Story 1 Star. Second Was Better
dudewholikesthepits25 October 2021
The first story was just horrible. It was so poorly executed that it was beyond ridiculous. The doctor's reaction to what went on weren't even believable in a campy/cheesy way. It was just horrible.

The second story was much better. It's a really good concept that could be fleshed out to an actual film.

Gone !

Warning: Spoilers
I have loved Tales from the Crypt since my childhood and the movies and HBO series were awesome. " I don't want to offend you " for holding the door open for someone with 50lbs of books in their hands and have a character womensplain to a doctor are what the people involved in this series are doing to add wokeness to this series. Majority of people do not want this in shows we watch to get away from that. I'm done with this series , it doesn't seem that they are going to stop but are adding more to each episode. It really is a shame that Hollywood is taking this course on almost everything coming out of there.

Was that really necessary, Creepshow?

Warning: Spoilers
The first story is so horribly executed in every aspect, I was left in awe wondering what in the hell they could have been thinking. Bad everything. It was like nails on the chalkboard for 20 minutes. It felt like the worst episode of Creepshow you've ever seen, but it was being brought to you by CBS, Not Shudder. Bad-Bad. Then at the end there's a complete tonal shift. The sad, mean, psychotic woman that spends too much time on social media, who we are supposed to (sympathize?) with... puts a man she's been pushing around, belittling, and holding hostage under a spell and attempts to... r*pe him(?), while eating him alive? I mean, if I'm off here let me know, but I think that's what I saw? It did escalate quickly though.

Anyway, I'd honestly rather go watch Creepshow 3. Shudder/AMC, I'd say you have some 'Fansplaining' to do...

PS: 2nd story wasn't really anything to write home about either, but it wasn't that garbage.

Easily the worst episode of the series
Fiercesome_Fool5 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This series has some bad stories but "Stranger Sings" takes the cake for being the worst. It is unfathomably idiotic to the point you just can't believe it was even made. A doctor meets a woman at a coffee shop, he walks her home. The woman appears to sing putting the doctor in a trance getting him to come into the house. He finds the corpse of some man while in the house. He attempts to leave when he runs into the woman and her roommate who turns out to be a siren and was really the one singing.

Here is where it gets stupid. The siren and the coffee woman want to switch voice boxes so the siren can be mortal and not have to eat men while the coffee woman can be a siren to get any man she wants. This doctor is a gynecologist, not a surgeon he even says so.

They apparently stalked him specifically to do the surgery. So the question is why the heck did they not get a surgeon? It is established that the siren can get any man to do anything but they pick a gynecologist. Next issue is they say that in order to make sure he doesn't run away during the surgery that only one person will be put under at a time.

This makes no sense at all. The siren is a threat not only the singing which can control him but is strong enough to lift him by the neck with one arm. The coffee woman however is just a chubby regular woman who is zero threat. She doesn't even have a gun to threaten him.

The siren is put under first and he takes out her voice box. At this point he could throw the thing on the ground and stomp it to mush as the chubby coffee woman can't do anything to stop him. Not to mention the idea of them being under one at a time makes zero sense.

The doctor takes the voice box out of the siren leaving a sizeable hole in her neck. So he wakes her up with the hole in her neck and then puts coffee woman under? Once again why can't he run? The siren's voice box is removed and thus her power not to mention the gapping hole in her neck.

The story ends in a silly fashion too. Oh and the acting was corny to go along with this idiotic story.

As for the second story, there isn't much to say. It is the pandemic meets the exorcist with a bunch of boring exposition. Feels like a bit out of some crappy Hollywood flick. Completely forgettable.

I felt compelled to write this review because I found this episode of Creepshow so bad.

Why?
Pnkprinses3099 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is the WORST episode. Worst! Both episodes are bad. The second one is the worst I've ever seen. The first is this siren wanting to be a mortal girl and a girl wanting to be a siren and they take a man to do the surgery. In theory, could be good, but the ending is just ugh. Plus why not just kill the siren while she was under and the normal girl was watching? She is just a girl. The second was trying to be Covid and the exorcist and the walking dead all at once. It was offensive. Too much religion. None of it made sense. It was AWFUL.
