The Psychedelic Sixties
bemyfriend-4018411 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A film from the psychedelic Sixties. Tune in, turn on, drop out. Make love, not war. Sock it to me, baby. If you just want to... sort of... look at stuff, here's a movie to watch. So, aliens invade. But we don't see them... or much of anything; except the schizophrenic hallucinations and delusions of some dude. Seen on Tubi, the free streaming site, which has better movies than this; and now, live TV.

Nobody to review

A scifi for the Oprah network? Has anyone managed to watch the whole thing? Maybe it has a marvelous ending. I will never know....not even sure I can come up with 150 characters to qualify as a acceptable review. Kinda like doing that 500 word story for freshman English where you just stretch it out with mindless verbiage. Hay! That explains the screen play at least.

I got to find Nina.
nogodnomasters14 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Tom (Maximilian Anthony) gets a promotion and raise at work. He celebrates with his live-in girlfriend Nina (Mar Alsius) who works with mental patients. Tom gives Nina a lovely ring. Nina mentions marriage and a baby which puts Tom off the deep end and leads to a rift and a swift break-up. The morning after the break-up his neighbor Karl (Ben Vinnicombe) comes over to save his life on the onset of an alien invasion. Tom does not want to go to Karl's prepper shelter but wants to go outside and find Nina whose phone goes to voice mail. Karl is a conspiracy-type person. He believes the government is creating the illusion of an alien invasion so we will all take a pill that will save us, but will give over our control to "them." Tom hears the alien voice in his head talk to him and says he can't tell anyone or else he won't find Nina.

I noticed the pitiful soundtrack before I was cued into the bad acting. As science fiction, the film is boring and a bust. This is an avoid-at-all-cost production.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

"Prepare to be captivated by a cinematic masterpiece that effortlessly blends science fiction, romance, and sheer innovation! This intelligent and thought-provoking film takes audiences on a mesmerizing journey into the future, where love transcends the boundaries of time and space.

From the very first frame, the visuals are nothing short of breathtaking. The futuristic landscapes and cutting-edge special effects create a visually stunning world that feels both familiar and entirely new. The attention to detail in the set design and CGI is impeccable, immersing viewers in a universe that sparks the imagination.

What sets this movie apart is its ability to seamlessly weave a heartwarming romance into a complex and intellectually stimulating sci-fi narrative. The central love story is beautifully crafted, with the chemistry between the lead actors radiating authenticity. The characters are not only relatable but also showcase a depth that adds emotional resonance to the overall experience.

In terms of innovation, this film stands head and shoulders above the rest. The screenplay is a marvel, blending intricate scientific concepts with a touch of whimsy, keeping the audience engaged and intrigued from start to finish. The plot twists and turns are as unpredictable as they are brilliant, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats while delivering moments of pure cinematic magic.

The film's soundtrack deserves special mention, as it complements the storytelling flawlessly. The music enhances the emotional beats and heightens the impact of pivotal scenes, creating an immersive auditory experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

Kudos to the visionary director and the talented cast for bringing this extraordinary vision to life. This movie is a testament to the power of storytelling, reminding us that even in the vast expanse of the cosmos, the universal language of love prevails. If you're seeking a film that combines intellect, romance, and innovation in equal measure, look no further - this sci-fi gem is an absolute must-watch!"

After you've realized that the poster is a little misleading, this movie is actually pretty decent

Are we really under alien siege? Or is it all just a mind trip by a lunatic?

Once you've come into that path, Exopolitics is quite fun. I particularly enjoyed the way it is "stitched" together, appearing linear but actually being asymmetrical on a meta level.

Tom lives a seemingly great life, about to step up to the next level and wanting to celebrate with his love. But his girlfriend wants to take the relationship to the next level too - much to the displeasure of Tom, who takes off after a decisive conversation, only to wake up the next day in a hilarious scenario: the world is being invaded and undermined by aliens. On top, he can't get in touch with his girl anymore. That's where the psycho trip begins.

I enjoyed it. Good pacing, great atmosphere - the only weird thing is that most side characters play better than the main actor. Apart from that, I had a really good time.
