So Much Wasted Potential
TiredOldMan134 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really wanted to like this film. It had a great premise, was shot in my hometown (so I got to see quite a few local places I recognised) and featured some great Aussie actors from our tv screens over the past 10 years. But it just didn't make sense.

I feel it would have been much better had the way it was told been more straightforward with a twist at the end explaining the multiple personality thing (like in Identity). Having the story told to the cops in a flashback/voiceover type of way just removed all tension because you already knew most of what was going on. Scenes like the driver getting away from the cops when he's driving a sports car with a fancy paint job and personalised plates just didn't seem likely. It felt like another one of these movies where the director wants to get noticed early on in their career so they do weird things to get noticed instead of just making a decent straight forward film. With a runtime of 80 minutes it actually seemed to drag on a bit and there was a distinct lack of action considering the movie poster.

What was this supposed to be
idonotexist17 January 2024
First off clearly this is not good. No way around that. The highlight here is the opening credits. The music totally has you pumped up and then its all nothing from there on out. Literally the high point is the opening credits.

What went wrong here.. well, the cast looked proper. They cast them ok. The tough gangster mobster dudes fit in. They can't act but they should not have to act. See this was supposed to be a mobster action fighting movie... What it turned out to be was stupid dialogue (remember the part about acting) and it buried itself. It tried to be too smart for its own good and collapsed hard.

You have a bunch of muscled up angry looking dudes and what do you do with them.. well, have them play dialogue instead of punching stuff. Total fail and waste of your time.

2\10 because i enjoy horrible dialogue from body builders.

This movie makes me embarrassed to be an Australian
scottanthonyosman4 February 2024
Where to start. The writing is terrible, either written by someone really old and out of the loop or like that school nerd in high school writing about picking up women, doesn't have a clue! Tried very hard to have "cool" dialogue it missed the mark and was so bad it was cringe worthy. Instead of showcasing the Australian culture that is actually cool, they miss the mark again and use Australian actors with really bad American accents and the character monologues sound like an 80's cheesy radio dj with a slow, monotoned voice - again like your grandfather was asked to make his interpretation of cool. The plot tries to be clever by copying many different ideas and executed the story so predictable it left me shaking my head and wondering why the writer didn't dig a little deeper. The writer could have used the concept for an unpredictable twist at the end but instead used lazy writing, only that of someone not very worldly, with a huge ego and bad taste. This movie was written by Quinton Tarrintino, the one you receive when you order a script from "wish".

Skip the first five minutes to enjoy.

Warning: Spoilers
The first time I've watched this movie I missed the first 5 minutes and I thought it was good , far stretched but still passable for the ''morale ending,'' aka you can't just ''be the driver'' if you hang out with criminals talking the talk wont do it on the long run. After re-watching it in it's entirety , it just doesn't add up. If you miss the first 5 minutes and think all the personages are different people the movie make sens and there is a twist at the end , you discover the main character Abe is actually Kane but him being also Richard just ruins it all. I'm giving it a six stars because I actually enjoyed it the first time and if it wasn't for that advertised DID crap I would have given it 7 or 8 but it's only worth 5 stars at best.

A Lot of Potential Plagued by Budget Constraints
nightringer-768404 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I almost skip Kane coz it was a Saban Film production and they only produces B-Movie grade films.

A new director debut of Blair Moore who wrote and directed Kane, he tried to overcome the limitations by leaving clues everywhere. It was annoying to wait for the answer because I could guess who was who, but the last answer stiched everything together and answered the unanswered.

The 4 actors who played the main characters did well, especially Jeremy Lindon Taylor who played Abe and got the most closed up of all the characters. Jake Ryan who played Lane did very good for a stoic murderous assassin for hire, Martin Dingle Wall played Richard, the cheating husband, was convincingly as the least liked character and assassination target, and Beau Jones who played Ghost who got interrogated by the police showed his confusion.

The other skip scene was whwre the family went? Disappeared or just an imagination of this multiple personalities plagued man?

Watch it, it's woeth the money and time. I believe Blair Moore has the potential to make a more complicated film in the future.

This was a fun ride
thejenniferscott19 February 2024
These days it's hard to get through new films. Kane was well shot, visually pleasing and kept me engaged from beginning to end. A very solid cast with a nice range. I don't understand the low ratings. I see at least 30 new movies a week, so when this came to my plate, I finally said, oh good, a real film. I even watched this film twice not only because of the production value, but having a lot going on, you really need to pay attention but, if you miss something, it still works and has a nice payoff at the end. There are many twists and turns that engage your attention throughout.....I just say sit back and enjoy the ride.
