Riley leaves the CSI team and Catherine is understaffed, when Brass summons her to investigate a car crash, where the victim is the famous starlet Olivia Hamilton. The driver of the truck that hit her car is Richrd Wilkes, who has miraculously survived and her boyfriend Denny Ocampo, who is the son of a casino owner, is distressed. While investigating the apparent accident, Catherine receives a call and assigns Greg to investigate the murder of an old man in a low-budget motel. While investigating the cases, Nick and Langston find that there was traffic light manipulation and Denny and his bodyguard Tom O'Neil become suspects. Further, the team finds that both cases are related and involve family business.

"Family Affair" is a good episode of "CSI", with two entwined cases e some news. Riley Adams (Lauren Lee Smith) leaves the show, with a report criticizing Catherine's leadership. Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) returns to the show, at least in this episode. Langston is promoted to CSI 2 and Catherine promotes Nick to Assistant Supervisor. My vote Is eight.

The Matrix visits CSI
XweAponX26 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This season opener in a rather unusual nod to The Matrix begins with frozen-framed drops of some water-like liquid (Probably water, but who knows that? Seeing as the Crime Lab is a storehouse of Chemicals, so it could have been drops of Hydrochloric acid for all we know!)- The Camera winds it's way in and out of several scenarios, and this kind of filming, as was first seen in a large way in "The Matrix" when Carrie-Anne Moss' LEAPS into the air and then it stills - Works rather well HERE and each scenario tells us a lot about this episode which we are about to see. That is, if I am not about to SPOIL it for a bunch of people- So if you have not seen it, stop reading this NOW and go watch it on the CBS website, it may still be there. But if you have watched the ep several times like I have then this is for YOU.

Initially, we see those drops of "water" If indeed that's what they are, and not corpse-juice... Because we are in the Morgue, and there are a couple of DB's and several corpses in the freezers above and all are in total disarray. As we pans past the DB's we see "Super Dave" (As Nick calls him) yelling into a phone. Past that into the hallway, a lab-coated, one-shoed Doc Robbins is molesting a black-suited "Agent" figure with his cane, causing the Agent/MIB to lose his gun (And his consciousness, probably) in Mid-Air.

We center on "The Flying Gun", moving past that and into the overhead AIR duct, which becomes a good place to CUT TO:

"Another Hallway", Sanders protecting a Test-Tube ridden Henry while Mandy cowers in the background (You blame her?) - Then Moving past several other dancing and dodging techs trying to evade a bullet that is whizzing by them - through suspended shards of broken glass and we then see Langston/MORPHEUS on the Giving end of a severe-looking KARATE kick, the tumbling MIB figure does not look too happy with that. The source of the bullet which is playing "TAG" with everyone is coming from a GUN Langston had KICKED OUT of the "Agents" hand... And we move past Langston into yet another hall and we see Willows moving another hapless Lab Tech out of the path of yet another stray Bullet.

Now on to my favourite part: I have been rooting for Hodges that eventually he'll succeed in landing Wendy Simms, but here we get to see just how important she is to him: Oy Vey! We pan around Willows to reveal Hodges Trace Workstation EXPLODING yet again (Just like it did in the 9th season episode "Space Oddity") - And as we are brought through the explosion, what is Hodges doing but that he has his arms around Simms, moving her out of the way of the bullet that caused Hodges' Beaker to explode? That one little image of Hodges and Simms in Mid-air, you feel what Hodges feels, that not only is he protecting a fellow Lab Worker, but someone who is most important to him. So you want to ask, would have he done the same thing if it were Ecklie? Maybe! So now we are moving over Hodges to show three more dark-suited "Agents" behind the muzzle flash of a gun- in a Hallway with an Exit -

Assuming that the three guys in the last hallway are bad guys, we close up into the muzzle flash and CUT TO: The Flashlight Glare of a "MiB" sitting at the wheel of a Step-van, and as we move backward there is another "Agent" and a "DB" - the Agent firing at... Nick Stokes! -Who seems to be standing there shooting back with no apparent regard for the several BULLETS heading his way, and so as a final shock, as we pan around Nick, we see... SARAH SIDLE! also brandishing a GUN. what? And the look Nick has on his face is sort of saying "I am THOROUGHLY enjoying this" - And as this little bit of Suspended Animation comes to a stop, we have a few frames of Nick and Sarah's faces - Whose guns are shown in the process of Ejecting Cartridges, which nakes a very interesting image.

And so ends the Teaser of the Season 10 Premiere Episode of CSI- We then see that we are looking at "Present Time" events and the "Clock" is rewound 48 hours so we can see... What are the EVENTS that led up to this ATTACK on the CSI lab by apparent "MATRIX" Agents.

And so a number of questions come to mind... Where was Riley in that mess? Who were those "Agents?" Is CSI merging with FRINGE on another Timeline/Alternate Reality, so that AGENT SMITH is now part of the CSI "Universe?"- And what the devil is Sarah doing there, and firing a GUN even? All those questions you got to watch this very good CSI episode to get the answers to. I simply wanted to walk you guys through one of the most interesting Season Premiers, ever. This is real Eye-Candy, but not done so that we hard-core CSI viewers can see just how large the CSI Budget is this season? I myself wonder how this was done, how much of it was CGI, and did they have to get Robert David Hall to hang from the Light Fixtures so they could get that shot of him whacking the guy on the head with the cane? I also want to wonder if they blew their whole special effects budget for the 10th season with that one shot.

Great episode

I really enjoyed this episode. It was very fun, with great writing and filming. I do find it odd that Grissom is barely mentioned. There are brief lines explaining where Grissom and Reilly are.

Great First of the Season
Hitchcoc4 March 2021
Everything centers around the death of a beautiful young movie star. She is broadsided at an intersection at 4:30 a.m. The guy who hit her is a serious stalker. This introduces us to a whole series of characters, including the son of a casino owner who lived with the young woman. The show is a flashback from a well constructed opening scene. Jorja Fox returns briefly and Catherine deals with an ugly exit interview from the young woman who was there last season.

Warning: Spoilers
Last season was Lucha Libre to mark the 200th episode! This season opens up a can of whoop-ass with stunning cinematography in an homage to one of my favourite Laurence Fishburne films, The Matrix!! It's a fun opening and very interesting to see a familiar face and how it all ties together. Really enjoy seeing Doc Robbins participate more and more with cases throughout the recent episodes. Each character truly gets a chance to shine and bring substance to their role. Although some scenes were a bit farfetched, a small contrivance here and there doesn't hurt! I enjoy ANYTHING with Garret Dillahunt - he's very good at his craft, which comes across in every scene. Overall, this was a banger episode and a great surprise guest!
