the one where all the pieces come together
Lythas_856 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Very fast paced and the scene with finlay running away with reachers help was alright

The house scene.. i guess I am not the only one who disliked it.

It made no sense.. dude gets all prepared but listen, why does he not ever use any more guns than the desert eagle? By the way, I guess it comes with unlimited ammo because when roscoe gave him the gun, it was the only clip and no box with extra.

But ignoring that, he goes all rambo first blood and pretty buch annihilate everybody quick and easy until the last guy comes around.. the cousin i dunno his name.. and reacher suddenly gets incompetent, dude smashes his crowbar repeatedly on reachers forearm, which I guess is made of adamantium, because afterwards he shows no signs of any injury... and what about the pool part? Lol he takes a couple of hits to the face (which later turn into 0 bruises and minor cuts instead of busted lips, nose and maybe and huge cuts and bruises to the face) and then passes out and when he snaps out of it, he cannot do anything.. he cannot elbow the guy, throw him away even tho he is like 70lbs heavier than him.. he barely makes it out alive... only to be 100% and doing the laundry 5 minutes later with 0 bruises and cuts lol nah, that was lame like i said before, I understand nerfing reacher so he does not one hit kill everybody but try to make him competent at least.. make them similar to jason bournes.. taken... so many examples to use

sidelining roscoe was a mistake.. I understand the need to make lana lang tell her the whole story but making her just babysit was a waste of her potential cause they got great chemistry together.

Interesting plot twist at the end.

Penultimate Episode
jaydenessig5 February 2022
Pretty damn good first season. I love Alan Ritchson (Jack Reacher) so I might be a bit bias but even though he could improve on acting stoic, I like him as Reacher. The action is great, even better in this episode than the others (so far). The pieces are finally coming together and I can't wait to see if there are any more reveals in the finale. Oh and I really love Finlay and Roscoe.

Not bad, but ridiculous fight scene.
tomcatpads-458432 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Obvious stuff finally realized...like Picard being the leak. That was pretty evident early on in the series. The house ambush was absurd. Starts as a pretty standard Reacher kill zone, until the pee wee Dawson slaps Reacher around like a third grader. Come on! All series long he's dispatching trained assassins, prison gangs and one huge dude in a bar. Now, some punk, who takes a Reacher beating, pops up like nothing happens, and hits Reacher repeatedly in the head and body with a crow bar. Then he holds him unconscious underwater, before Reacher miraculously regains consciousness and shoots the little fool. Seriously??

Warning: Spoilers
I was able to look past the quick arrest and overly fast processing and release through the detention system at the beginning of the series for the simple fact of "It's T. V. entertain the masses" but when the protagonist gets his ass whipped in such a manner by the particular character in this episode of the series, after all the other combat situations our hero has been subjected to, I just have to think I choose not to further my participation in blithering mind numbing stupidity.

Holy 🐮 that worked...
uncleskuncle7 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They must have mentioned "that's a lot of feed" enough times.

Anyone here the expression" No manure Sherlock, wipe it up Watson" they've only been telling you that there's something going on with the feed since like the first episode. It wasn't until we learned that the money was being sent to Venezuela that it totally changed the game.

On a side note, anyone whose worked in a cash handling job is a suspicious of old $100 bills... Especially pre -1990s. They didn't change the Head Size until the early 2000's. So the bills would be all over 30 years old. If I was paid in cash with 5 or more of these you'd be suspicious too.

But anyway, the idea to make your own door was hilarious and ingenious, always disable their vehicle if possible.

This has been a great representation of the books I have read, I hope they get a sequel.

Speechless!!

The show is amazing. I love Alan Ritchson's (Reacher) acting, IDK he's acting or he just being himself.

The action is great, even better in this episode than the others (so far).

I came here especially to review this episode, I haven't left words to say at its ending.... Goddd how quick that was can't explain.

Tight Plotting/Nice Reveal
Hitchcoc8 March 2022
I see that most people giving this a low rating are doing so because of the fight in the house and the death of the last guy. That negates an entire episode. He'd already gone at it with four guys. Maybe a bit of fatigue? I do have to admit that there was one character too good to be true and having watched so many of these series, I suspected him. Overall, everything is coming to a head and No. 8 should be interesting.

Best episode yet, and hopefully, the finale tops it.
LegendaryFang562 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Now, that's what I'm talking about, baby! This episode was, by far, the best episode in the season: and I hope the finale tops it, but it may not.

As far as the storyline is concerned, it seems like it's pretty much clear now. Everything going on seems to be revealed, for the most part. Yet I didn't care too much about the aspects concerning the underlying of the counterfeiting operation.

But I think there's still a tiny bit left to be revealed, like with Joe's death; who was the one that shot him? I think the one who did it was Kliner Jr. Seemingly, the three to four people involved were Dawson and Venezuelans, based on Morrison's murder, along with his wife, and Steveson's murder, along with his wife. Then, the subsequent reveal of their identities when they went after Reacher. But with Joe, Kliner Jr. Himself may have been there and was even the one who shot him.

  • That music score once Reacher arrived at Hubble's house was lowkey a bop. It hammered home the unavoidable demise that was slowly looming upon those who would end up trying to take out Reacher. Adios, and good riddance.

  • Lol, notice how Dawson and the Venezuelans didn't have their hoods on when their target was Reacher? Talk about an on-the-nose reveal. I guess it was impossible to be consistent instead of compromising for a premature reveal. But that wasn't a big deal; it just stuck out, that's all.

  • Oh, yes. Let's buy a blackjack weapon and then only use it once; on the guy in the truck. That makes a whole lot of sense. I mean, there was no point in using it when taking out those three Venezuelans; Reacher had it covered with the knife. But against Dawson? But the biggest problem with that face-off was that my man Reacher barely attacked at all. Forget using the blackjack again; he hardly did anything against Dawson except tank loads of hits, which I delve more into, two paragraphs down.

  • The whole showdown in the Hubble family house was great; easily the highlight of the episode. It was great seeing Reacher take them out, one-by-one. They didn't stand a chance. But I swear, it's like the Venezuelans are growing on trees out here: there's always more. I wonder if their boss, presumably the client Kliner Sr. Was referring to in the previous episode to Paul Hubble, will show up in the finale. That won't be left a loose end. Or maybe it will be.

  • Reacher should've wiped the floor with Dawson. I get it; he was the main bad guy in that situation, so there had to be a "drawn-out" fight sequence, and it couldn't have been as swift and easy as the others. Hence "drawn-out," as that would be conceived as "boring." But the writers should've gone against that preconceived notion, one most people would've been expecting and would defend, as: "Well, that would've been boring." They should've gone against it by having Dawson hardly put up a fight because he had no chance to, which wouldn't have mattered anyway, and to such an extent, people would've been like: "Wait, what? That's it? Oh, okay: that makes sense; Reacher's skilled, Dawson isn't. Etc, etc."

  • I'm not too sure about Reacher tanking all those hits from the crowbar. I mean, it's a good thing that there are still moments like that to convey that Reacher isn't all the way nerfed, but it shouldn't have gotten to that point in the first place. There seems to be an element of contradiction in there somewhere.

  • I'm baffled at how Reacher and Finlay purposely tilted the box for the money to fall out, which Reacher then starts putting back in. All you had to do was look inside the box, but that was too simplified, huh? That was a tad bit dramatic on the part of the writers; unnecessary dramatic flair.

  • Talking in the presence of the driver in the car she was in, super-sensitive information, was a little careless on Neagley's part: by extension, the writers. But I guess if it's not important enough in the grand scheme of things to affect the plot, it's not a big deal.

  • Reacher put those weapons in the trunk of the Bentley. Assuming he left them there, that's a possible path in helping with his predicament. I'm expecting that could be relevant in the finale. It would be a missed opportunity of that not being the case.

With only one episode left, I wonder how the finale will be. It seems like there are still a few question marks and loose threads. I'm a little doubtful that just one episode will be enough. Then again, there will probably be your typical trope (?) where the antagonists ramble out information that will answer the question marks and tie the loose ends: or something along those lines.

So, most importantly, I'm curious to see how this season will conclude. Disregarding everything leading up to the conclusion, I think I'm more interested in seeing/knowing where and how the season leaves off. I think this episode was the best one yet, but it'll be nice if the finale's even better.

Peach Pie
dannylee-7808213 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1. Stevenson and his wife killed 2. Reacher hunts 3. Picard is a rat

Love this episode!! Some gruesome stuff with Stevenson. I am glad that the show-runners are not afraid to include things like this. Reacher outsmarting the officer and luring them to the Hubble mansion. Also just an amazing sequence at Hubble's place. Love that Reacher is full game mode and being smart about it instead of smashing through things with his muscle. Liking the rain addition, which definitely adds to the tension. Loved that little escape of Finlay's.

Twist after twist after twist! How is Picard dirty? If it's just coincidence that Finlay asked for his help and Picard happens to be dirty, then that's just bad writing.

Fight scene with pipsqueak
crhollenback5 February 2022
Please don't ever make that mistake again, Reacher is not dependent upon guns and wouldn't keep getting hit with a crowbar over and over again. Be better as everything else has been spot on and aligned to the books.

Make sure whomever cast that little man and directed that fight scene not make those mistakes again.

Great casting, character development, sticking to the books, and Alan is the man for the job. Thank god we can now forget TC selfish experiment.

Too many close calls
Figaro327 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with fczenit. I hate when shows extend fights for the drama but never get it right. I haven't done the math, but I'll bet Reacher had more almost-losses in this series than in all the books combined. How did that pipsqueak become a crowbar samurai? And why doesn't Reacher have any broken bones, let alone bruises? Stop using concussions as plot devices.

Fun with some complete incoherence.
fczenit7 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I have been watching this and other episodes just to get to the end and was enjoying things somewhat. It's not even close to a perfect show but it has its moments, mostly violence I must say but nevertheless. However, the supposed 6.5 superman vs 5.7 man-child fight was the silliest I have seen in a long time. I rolled my eyes more times than Reacher blocked the crowbar. Wtf were the writers smoking at that point?

In general, good
pauli_gomez9 February 2022
I liked most of the episode, and even the final moments (which were obvious from a mile of distance) were well done. But I have two problems, one is people not talking much to each other (did Reacher told his P. I. friend all about the operation, for instance?) and the other, which was worse, was the House scene. It was beyond stupid, especially the pool part. Not done well at all.

Liked it but unnecessary goofs
SlightlyMe12 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Mostly good. Some good fight scenes but also some fight scenes where Reacher struggles with clearly a subpar opponent??

Episode 7: Through out the series, there are a group of guys that carefully do their mischief wearing full plastic hooded body suits. Except when dealing with Reacher! They do the whole scene unhooded. They even walk through the rain without their hoods?? For me that really spoilt the scene.

All in all I'm looking forward to the next season. Just please don't spoil it with such weak goofs.

Low rating for STUPID fight at house
thomrobbin-110 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I rarely write reviews, but the absolute buffoonery of the fight between the shrimp with the crowbar and Reacher was more than ridiculous. No broken bones? No bruises? And Reacher taken to task by a guy outweighed by 100 lb? More than disappointing and certainly not up to the quality of most of the other fight sequences in this series.

docjoque4 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
He can take out 5 trained mercenaries lickety split, but he gets bested by a 140 pound townie. Get the crap beat out of him by said townie (and it wasn't even a surprise ambush), left to drown in a pool, but of course, in best 60s Batman fashion, townie jumps into the pool to hold him down instead of bashing him in the head, and only after Reacher finds a gun is he able to escape doom. 😂

Making Reacher vulnerable = more exciting for the crowds?
mururoa11 February 2022
Nah that's not how it works, producers. It's infuriating how incompetent they made him when it comes to mano a mano, he is constantly taken to task by ponytailed Venezuelans throughout the series and in this episode it all culminates to an eyeroll-worthy bout versus cousin baldy. This is not Reacher.

Otherwise ok I guess, although some bad acting performances and the certain budget feel get more jarring by each passing episode.

The fight was all wrong
realwd4 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I understand no one is perfect and that after taking care of four men you are bound to be at a disadvantage against someone who is 'fresh'. BUT that does not mean that Reacher's most difficult fight would be against an emotional, arrogant twerp with nowhere near the experience that Reacher has. Sure, make the fight interesting by stacking the odds against him but don't make so that the twerp can yake Reacher on with a crowbar becuase reacher let him. The ending of the episode was great but that one fight scene ruined the whole episode. If you want to stack the odds against reacher, then make it a combination of things. Like flour in the eyes, boiling water, flames, explosion, etc.

REACHER GETS BEATEN SO BAD. WHY??????
ceejeybusiness21 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Please don't ever make that mistake again, Reacher is not dependent upon guns and wouldn't keep getting hit with a crowbar over and over again. Be better as everything else has been spot on and aligned with the book, if you guys have shown him the toughest guy who can easily beat anyone, but in this episode, one thin goon from Span beat him so brutally, it cant be accepted as a reacher fan

This fight scene near the end DOES ruin an entire episode and almost an entire season. FOOLLISH and USELESS, and NOT NEEDED! THEY COULD HAVE SIMPLY SHOT IT WITH SOME AMAZING AND SATISFYING FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY.

Reacher said nothing...
puzgolac30 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
...because he was dumbfounded by the stupid mini boss fight that the writers put him in. And I mean mini. That scrawny kid who's combat experience consists of blowing up mailboxes with fireworks is suddenly more skilled in hand to hand combat than Reacher? I've said it before, changing a character's powers and abilities to suit the current moment is proof of weak writing. One moment Reacher is Superman to the power of Hulk, and the next redneck stickman is wiping the floor with him. And the only reason that Reacher is able to defeat him is because he managed to grab a gun? Well, that is underwhelming and really ruins the otherwise exciting part of Reacher killing off the bad guys in the house.

Couple of other weak moments: Reacher baiting the baddies by suddenly fake confiding in the crooked cop was bad. The cop, and his masters, must have been really stupid to buy that.

Also, how many Venezuelan special force soldiers are there in the US? A brigade? There seems to be a limitless supply of them.

Other than that, it is a fun episode, although the twist is cliche and you could see it coming from far, far away.

Details matter
dubzau18 January 2023
Yes, THAT fight scene near the end DOES ruin an entire episode and almost an entire season. Absolutely idiotic. The 5'7" version of Reacher was way better. Fans of the books made a big deal out of that, but why have a 6'5" 250lb superman skilled in unarmed combat to the point that he can recognise a particular fighting style from one headbutt, when he can be beaten up by a weedy kid with a tyre iron and no fighting skills? Other elements of that ambush scene didn't make a lot of sense but that was the worst by a long shot. Otherwise could have been a good episode with a couple of important revelations. As Reacher keeps saying, "details matter".

Going Hunting
lavatch8 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Reacher is suiting up for a hunting trip. His prey will be Dawson Kleiner and his goons, who arrive on a wild goose chase at Hubble's house. Reacher dispatches them quickly.

At this point, Reacher has narrowed down the insider at the police bureau as Officer Baker, the last one standing and likely Kleiner's go-between.

Reacher and Finlay discover evidence of the laundered $100 bills in the garage of Jobling's parents. They now have the evidence that incontrovertibly points to the Kleiners and Teale as the counterfeiters.

After talking through an escape plan with Finlay, who is trapped in a motel, Reacher and Finlay rendezvous to plan the final step in shutting down the counterfeiting op, only to be surprised at gunpoint by Picard, who turns out to the partner of the FBI agent known as the "Viking."

Reacher Said Nothing
Prismark1017 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The penultimate episode starts off with a loving couple who are having a baby about to be killed.

Finlay has made an enemy of Mayor Teale as another cop is dead. The Kliner family are not happy that Finlay turned up at Kliner Sr's funeral.

Meanwhile Reacher smartly uses a cop who he suspects to set up a trap.

There was a good scene as Reacher gives Finlay an assist as Finlay finds himself needing to flee a motel room.

Reacher worked out how the counterfeiting operation worked.

It was a bit of a reach. After getting a bit of a walloping in New York. Reacher had a hard time dealing with one of the Kliner clan who always came across like a wimp.

It was bad fight choreography when Reacher usually deals with the baddies so easily.

Finally, some action, but meh
jllagunos8 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The episode flows ok. Finally we get to see some payback, but the confrontation with the death squad was dull. Specially the last one, against the cousin. Are we supposed to believe that small guy can be a challenge against Reacher? Some naive screenwriter, or old school executive decided that was an exciting way to end the fight. It is not. You set up a great hero, you don't put it in danger against a small, hot blooded kid. That's just a rolling eyes moment.

Decent
Leofwine_draca22 May 2022
I think this episode was another decent one. It's centred around a set-piece sequence which is handled nicely and I enjoyed seeing Reacher tackling tougher opponents. The extended combat towards the climax is particularly enjoyable at this stage.
