An Episode Without Ryan Potter...
Gislef5 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
... is like a day without sunshine.

Really, Potter makes the show. Without him, I'd probably forget this show was 'Titans' instead of 'Nightwing and His Amazing But Useless Friends". Orpin is good, but they don't give Conner anything to do. Kory has gone from the alien waif of the comics, to the "Give Dick the Occasional Hard Talk" hard-ass of the series.

And we get more of Iain Glen as Batman. Yes, he's out of work otherwise and probably glad of the money they toss at him to show up from time to time.

Tim Drake wanders in after five episodes. Remember him being hassled by the cops, back in episode 1? The production staff did, finally.

Kimberly Sue-Murray is okay at Lady Vic. But she's also represents one of the main problems with Season 3 so far. SHE"S A NIGHWING VILLAIN!!. Crips, Vic couldn't even take down Barbara this episode. The character here seems better than the little I've seen of the comic book version. And like Kory, they lost the stripperific costume.

But this is the Titans that have fought Trigon and Deathstroke. Lady Vic should be like a gnat to them. If Kory or Conner or Rachel (where is she?) ever fought Vic, or even Gar, they'd splatter her like road kill on 'American Horror Story'. As much as I like the Bat Family, I'm not watching 'Titans' to see Barbara Gordon fight Lady Vic.

What was the point of putting Conner on the show? He's as fast as Flash, and even half as powerful as Superman makes him invulnerable and as we see in this episode, gives him super-hearing. Cripes, Krypto is as powerful as Conner. And the dog has disappeared entirely. Instead we get thrilling shots of Conner and Gar cooking, and Kory washing dishes. Is this 'Titans' or 'Kitchen Nightmare'? This doesn't make the Titans look very good. Setting aside "A hero is only as good as this enemy", the fact that Starfire can reduce German thugs to ash statues but doesn't get to lay a finger on Vic or Red Hood, makes Starfire look like a punk who bullies far weaker opponents.

If the production staff couldn't deal with Conner's power levels, here's an idea: DON'T PUT HIM ON THE SHOW. But they did, so they must have had an idea of how he's fit in. Right?

That's why Blackfire, like Gar, is a breath of fresh air. Blackfire because, like her or hate her, she GETS THINGS DONE! In this episode, while Kory and Conner are wandering around Gotham looking for Blackfire, and Dick is breaking into GCPD, Blackfire is actually talking to street thugs and busting heads. Off-screen, granted, but that's better than cooking and dishwashing.

We're six episodes in, and the Crane/Red Hood/Gotham story ending seems nowhere in sight. So I don't hold out much hope for the back half of season 3. The presence of Donna and Rachel on the season poster notwithstanding.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?

Fairly decent episode

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, I don't have much to talk about here. This episode largely sets up a future conflict between Red Hood and Scarecrow, who has recruited Lady Vic as Jason's replacement. Blackfire gets some much needed exploration, which makes her more likable and gives an explanation to her homicidal tendencies. While I can't say it's all too good (she still feels really unlikable and a bit contradictory even) it's a solid first step. Dick and Barbara's growth is also fairly well done, I enjoyed seeing more of their past/relationship and honestly it has me far more invested. The cliffhanger even with Tim Drake has me really intrigued to see where that story goes. The only thing that had me completely underwhelmed was...well...lady Vic. She doesn't have much besides wanting to kill Barbara because previously when they fought she Vic accidentally killed her brother because of Babs. Now this may sound like some solid character building but I was just left underwhelmed more than anything. It felt like they just kinda glossed over her brothers death. As well, other than that she just kills people and doesn't have much of a personality. This is her debut so I'm guessing we will see more growth on her end but for now she was easily the worst part of a fairly good episode.

Well...

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was fine, I might've even given it an 8 but I have to take one off because of some stupid things.

Like I'm sorry, but I can't take the scene with Dick recognizing exactly who the killer is by listening to a fkn audio!!! Seriously, and it is laughable at best.

I didn't like that Beast Boy is talking about Jason like he didn't Literally blow up Hank 2 episodes ago, like are you serious? Are the writers actually gonna make a redemption arc for this mindless killer boy just like that?

Also, how the hell can't Lady Vic take out a person in a fkn wheelchair? Like you have all that fancy tech to replicate Bruce's voice and make Barbra come alone and you come to her with a fkn knife? And your best move is to snapshot her in the middle of the fight? Couldn't you take her out with a sniper rifle or shoot her with roofies or something then take her in? Or just kill her when you already have her dizzied and confused, instead of running away like a little bech? And why in the fk didn't Barbra shoot her when she had the chance 2 times?

Also, it was confusing as to why Jason would pick the store with the kid we saw in the first episode but then I read another review and realized that he's gonna become Tim Drake, and it's really shoehorned in and forced by the writers. Just like how Dick and Barbra just suddenly are in love. It's not natural, it's just feels forced and it is forced.

Of course
Riddler912 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Of course Jason Todd attacks Tim Drake's business. Why? Well because Titans has to shoehorn Tim Drake somehow into the Robin role. Until that stupid, unnecessary scene I enjoyed the episode, I even tolerated Blackfire's scenes. But why would Jason do something this stupid other than writers looking for an excuse to make Tim Drake Robin? I swear, I don't think any of the writers/directors ever read a comic involving Jason Todd, they butcher his character constantly.

Oh, and you have to suck pretty hard at being a supervillain if you're not able to defeat a woman in a wheelchair in a fight.

I guess it was okay

The episode itself was okay, I've seen worse.

The one thing that let me to write this review is the fact that blackfire's actress should've stayed in theater school for a while. It's like the other cast members are acting against a monotone stone wall.

[5.7] The mud within (layer 3-6)
cjonesas31 January 2022
A joke of an episode, with some development, romantico-action headed, not belonging to Titans, of which, after six episodes, the writers show they do not know what to do (before and next).

Lady Vic drives the well written story lines forward whilst giving us great character interactions and plenty of character development
Holt3442 September 2021
"Lady Vic" follows the aftermath of the previous two episodes which saw Dick Grayson taking Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow out to forest and getting answers, the other storyline had Starfire and Gar find Blackfire and break her out of a prison cell. Whilst the previous episode was told in flashbacks and gave us almost all answers regarding Jason Todd's transformation into Red Hood. I actually buy the transformation, as in the second season we got to see Jason's fears and it's completely human to not feel afraid and that was his goal in working with Jonathan Crane. But in this episode, Crane enlists the help of assassin Lady Vic, who has a troubled history with Dick and Barbara. Meanwhile, Kory and Gar bring Blackfire back to Wayne Manor. Like episode 3.04, there are two storylines that we follow. Dick Grayson and the Red Hood story, and Starfire and Blackfire. I'll admit that the writers have something interesting going in the latter storyline, also the writers of this episode seems to write dialogue a lot better than those who wrote 3.04 at least for Starfire and Blackfire. Meanwhile the storyline involving Grayson and Babs was the best and their performances were fantastic, great chemistry too.

Great direction from Nick Gomez, there were also some truly amazing cinematography. The whole episode looked fantastic as the show usually does, there were some new sets and locations and my favorite was Barbara Gordon's apartment. There were also quite a lot of action in the episode, I would actually say it was an episode with mostly character development, but the action was nicely choreographed and I loved Barbara's small yet brilliant fight as it shows how she's still a bad ass in the wheel chair. Brenton Thwaites and Savannah Welch had the best performances of this episode, but the whole cast did amazing.

"Lady Vic" was a terrific episode that moved the storyline forward immensely yet giving us nice character interactions with well written dialogue and lots of character development. Wonderfully shot and a visually pleasing episode.

I love this series and this episode is a great one as usual,i hope Akiva Goldsman will do the same kind of miracles with Star Trek Strange New World too, because he is the best producer from the present .

Disappointing
Chris_P_Bacon005 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Dick Grayson is shot clean through his shoulder and after a nap hes completely healed showing ZERO signs of injury. SMH

Barbara Gordon is a faster and more skilled fighter than Grayson BEFORE she received training from Bruce. SMH

Blackfire is the worst addition to this show. The actress is horrible and the character is so annoying. She's a freaking killer and they just leave her around unsupervised and then they're shocked when she disappears. SMH

Blackfire spends a couple of hours in a couple of Gotham bars and is able to get the answers they need on a planet she knows nothing about. SMH

Lady Vic and her partner sneak up on Barbara and Grayson right smack in the middle of a robbery at the exact moment they entered the codes opening the jewelry case. SMH How did they know the robbery was going to take place? Or that Barbara and Grayson would have the codes necessary to open the case? Please don't tell me it was supposed to be coincidence cuz that would be even crazier. SMH

Barbara wins a fight against a ruthless, drugged up psycho killer who beat her years before (when she had both her legs) from a wheelchair. SMH.

Poor writing.
korpake4 September 2021
Flashback to when Babs isn't even trained and still better than Robin in a fight?

A sniper rifle that makes it past Robins armor and a hole clean through him would have caused massive internal damage. And then he's fine the hours late. I don't have a problem with magic body armor, but magic healing body is stupid.

Chief of Police who blocks their best asset from doing their job.

Just let an serious enemy threat walk around the Bat Cave.

That's just stupid. It just got more stupid from there.

Blood Will Have Blood
afhick2 September 2021
I hadn't watched this show in a while, but it strikes me that the violence is more gratuitous than ever. I"m giving it three stars because I like a couple of the characters, plus I remember Vincent Kartheiser from better days. Dick Grayson, on the other hand, is an empty suit. He's no longer Robin. He's no longer Nightwing. He's just another Dick.

Hitting on no cylinders
humfleetd16 October 2021
Continuing trend of low budget, cut corners production. They think all thats needed is gratuitous violence and an f bomb here and there.

Because everybody knows Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon were jewel thieves and messed around.

This should be so much better.
