Solid and sublime

What a strange tightrope to walk, on the one side it's satire and on the other it's cheese and it knows it.

The acting is well done from over to just subtle enough to catch the wink they are sending the viewers way.

I myself enjoyed it, but I also know I wouldn't recommend it to just any friend.

A decent start.
Sleepin_Dragon5 February 2022
Anna is struggling to get through life, the daily repetition and large glasses of wine get her through the day, until one day, a handsome dad moves in across the road.

It's a decent start, but I have no idea yet what I'm watching. Is it trying to be a spoof, a comedy, or something a little clever. Some of the jokes landed well, some were painful.

I had hoped for a little bit of suspense, a little bit of tension, absolutely nothing along those lines. So far I'd say it's mildly interesting, I'm keen to know the deal with the neighbour, and what's going on in the loft.

The British accent joke was funny, as was the casserole moment.

Kristen Bell does a good job as Anna, and Riley would distract anyone across the road.

Decent, I hope it picks up a little. 6/10.

Fun Quirky Setup

The setup of this show is fun and quirky. It says it's a comedy, but it plays more like a dark comedy or dramedy. After this first episode, I found myself wondering if it also has a fantastical element to it because some stuff is just so unrealistic (leaving a broken casserole dish in the middle of the street amongst other things)....

The woman, a window and a new neighbour.
AvionPrince163 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So the episode start pretty slowly and we met that woman. An artist who stopped paint and become pretty lonely in her house with the death of her little girl. We witness a new relationship with the neighbour and we wondering what will happen. We see also a woman with a lot of imagination (sex, thought her girl was still there). It was pretty slow and we can feel something will happen but we still dont know what. We basically see her talk and do stuff and learn more about the neighbour and his dead wife. Pretty encouraging even if we dont really know whats all about. But im sure we will soon see what s really the intention of the show. But for now it sound good. Need to see more.

Warning: Spoilers
It's says Comedy but I didn't sense any at all in this first episode. The second episode with her freaking out over tue instagram was the first reveal of comedy for me. But I'm still really liking the show. I've always been a fan of Kirsten Bell.

Oh and "Carol" is a bitch!

Entertaining

Can we talk about the Corningware dishes?! Those aren't cheap. She's destroyed multiple ones and seems to have an endless supply?!

I'm with others....is it a dark comedy? Is it a drama? I'm hanging in bc the episodes are short and the show seems binge worthy

Now I'm writing gibberish bc it's requiring a certain number of characters for some dumb reason. Now I'm writing gibberish bc it's requiring a certain number of characters for some dumb reason. Alright
Calicodreamin28 January 2022
A decent start to the series, a few small chuckles and an expected storyline. Acting is decent, characters well developed, but it's just not spoofy enough.

The woman across the lake

Now that was kinda funny, in a strange cringe way and you'll definitely notice the similarities with the woman across the window and other thriller movies.

The Woman In the House 1.1

Dang. That casserole looked yummy.

That's a strange way to thaw frozen veggies.

Sounds like hubby was an unforgiving child.

That's quite the cork collection. You're not an alcoholic unless you drink straight from the bottle, right?

Anna: are you so far gone that you don't know the difference between forgetfulness and hallucination?

How does a person with a rain phobia not notice storm clouds overhead?

Maybe Anna should just give up on casseroles?

Tongue in cheeck without the fun.

I get that this is satire but what am i really watching? Nothing humorous except the initial casserole gag and the comment about it later on in the form of an odd 1-off narration. They should have really played more the meta-narrative instead of trying to be as serious as it is. Either that or this really is making an honest to god attempt at lazy female drivel writing pandering to the lowest common denominator of estranged middling women.
