Awesome Project with a Great Ending
leoisthebaba7 April 2015
I very recently saw this and immediately knew this was something special. Overall, the acting and script were great, but what was particularly captivating was the story and cinematography. The story as a whole was flawless, even if it was a bit slow in the beginning. Actors were great and relatable, and the dialogue, though a bit drawn out, helped keep the story moving along. Each act, though capable of being self-contained, is particularly powerful when added to the interconnected story. The ideas and questions presented really make you reflect on your own childhood, and make you question your experiences and, more importantly, what you think is right when raising a child. Though shot 14 years ago, this film presents issues that are very real today, and the social commentary adds controversy to the hotly debated issue of immigration. What makes this film special is that it doesn't tell you, it shows you, and you can really feel the emotions the characters are conveying. The director clearly shows vision, and I'm surprised this film isn't more known. Overall, a 10/10, despite the low budget. I can't wait to see this remade with a bigger budget and a couple of name actors!
