Just saw this on YouTube. Close to home.

A lot of us from Suva, are not only familiar with the content, but almost all the people featured.

A good look back, on our history and country, and culture.

It was like looking at a home video.

Reality.

I had forgotten the visuals of the 2000 coup.

What is still unsolved is who was behind the coup.

And yes, I worked with George prior.

A small world, small country.

Presented in 480p, the best bits are the personal pics shown by Owen.

My wife just shared with me she read his book.

It was shot by Jason, but edited to show random churches of different faiths.

I met Greg at a house party in 1988, when I was new to Suva.

He appeared like a fellow freshie, and Suva is a hub for that.

Attended one of the Fashion shows when I returned to Fiji in 1997.

Almost everyone featured I know personally, from work or customers at the video store.

Documentary on two brutal murders in Fiji

I watched this in 2014. I had known of the coups in Fiji and some of the politics driving them but I hadn't heard of these crimes. The makers of the documentary assumed some foreknowledge of both these things. They began at the end, went back to the beginning, moved on, past the event and then went backwards. I would have liked to hear more analysis of the interplay between the native Fijians, the population with an Indian heritage and the colonial British. There was a mention of an early confession but this was never explained. Visually it was OK but I was never moved, only irritated. I think the conservative Methodist church got off lightly. (As a side comment, the film never showed any graphic violence, no more than what would be seen on a news report.) It is a tragic and horrific story.
