Very Good Documentary
lainey-grammy22 April 2009
I saw this documentary last night and really enjoyed it. I felt very sad for the people involved. I know this movie will bring awareness about mold problems and help people suffering from this illness find ways of getting help. I believe there are many people that suffer from this and may not even know that it is mold causing their problem. We all need to understand and learn about this problem and not let people ignore it. It is serious and very dangerous for all of us. Well written and a very good production. I recommend this movie. Well worth seeing. Go to the Magnolia and see it 4/22/09, the second screening. You won't be sorry

There was a question and answer session after the screening. People there handed out information on where to go for testing and help. Congratulations Michael Roland Williams on a great film. .

An important documentary about a very serious health problem
eaglerock7 July 2009
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The main story is about two people who have become sensitized to mold toxins while living in a moldy house. It portrays the life of these two people along with the life of many others who have the same affliction or are somehow connected to the issue. There is a notable appearance of Dr. David Staus from Texas Tech University. Since 1993 he has studied how mold toxins (mycotoxins) cause health problems to people who are exposed to them.

This health problem is so huge and so devastating to those who are sensitized, yet many people who are personally not affected (and thus have no problems themselves in the same environment) feel that the whole thing has been overblown. They think the mold sensitized people are mentally ill, malingers, hypochondriacs etc. Nothing could be further from the truth. Common allergies are like nothing when compared to the health problems caused by mycotoxins. It is nothing less than the difference between sneezing due to allergy and being poisoned by biological weapon of mass destruction (which trichothecene mycotoxins really are).

That's why it is very important that this movie exists, as a testament from the bravest people in the world: "moldies" - men, women and children that go out of their way in order to avoid these toxins.

more than a documentary

This documentary was more than a documentary - it is truly an answer to prayers. God bless Michael and Karen for their strength and determination. Thank you for giving the victims a voice. Your ability to show what is happening every day to countless victims across the globe was incredible. It really is the same story, just different players everywhere you turn. If only medical science and politicians could be on the same page and be there for the same reasons, just to help those who have had their lives impacted by this dreaded silent illness. I suggest everyone share this film with those you care about. The information provided may help turn their life around or someone they know by providing them with solutions never before discussed or tried. Doctors tend to treat the symptoms and not the cause, hopefully this film will shed light on the cause of many patient's needless suffering. Michael and Karen, thank you.

Shocking yet Informative

"I never would've thought that an illness such as this could exist." Yeah that's what most people say when you talk to them about anything however for this movie it is true. I say this movie online for 25 dollars and picked it up and enjoyed the hell out of it. For one thing I would've never had seen this if it hadn't been for the clever tag line "It can happen to you" at that moment I was intrigued enough to get it.

The first thing you see is a bible verse which says a priest would come to the house to bless the mildew and if it stayed your house was cursed. The thing is it just so happens this was 3000 years ago. As we continue we see many families and teachers talking about this awful illness. Of course we hear lawyers and greedy politicians say "There's no such thing as mold it must be lies like those people."

I will say that I have a list of the good and the bad.

Good

1. Story is easy to follow. 2. The people are likable. 3. Scientific evidence is provided not everything is theory. 4. Everyone speaks not just the victims. 5. The Director wrote, produced this entire movie.

Bad

1. Too short at 1 hour and 40 minutes it seems short.

All in all it's awesome and everyone should watch it.

Mockumentary, right?

Karen- The whiny valley girl who kept saying "like and like and like and like" I had to mute my TV and put closed captions on. ANNOYING! I found it difficult to take her seriously.

Her makeup brush and sponges are disgusting- why use something full of filth? IF she really was concerned, why bother wearing makeup at all?

Also, they should not have any fabric window coverings (or carpet) and all those fabric coverings over all the furniture.

Nutty OCD lunatic I had to laugh about their foil duck tape tho (they probably have tinfoil hats too). Ha ha ha

How can she work at a place where normal people work?

And the doctor, who is SO proud of his data...his bookcases must be full of dust and other allergens
