Feels very M. Night

It felt very much like watching the village, just a more down graded version. Still enjoyable. Several plot holes...how did we get the mix of childern we have, also based of the apperance/age of some characters I am not sure the childern would have been bilogical at all. Still I felt like there were some enjoyable moments. It also seemed a little culty...which in these times seem a little less than predictable. And the overt punish thru religious guidance always feels over played and creates to much contraversy for many people to enjoy. I am glad there wasn't the plot of familial insest which is also over played to often in these types of movies.

i dont like...

These kind of films where the woving of a holier sanctum totally dominates the plot, where the gospel of faith is absolute, and the methods of teaching and learning is made in a medeval manor of repent and forever repent or thy shall be doomed before kingdome come...

but i guess there are people out there that devours films like this, and they may have practical or personal reasons for viewing cultified purgatorial movies like this one, cause there are many religious cults and religious communions out there that demands repent whatever, cause when everything a man do can be considered a sin, even breathing, then there obviously has to be people out there with loads of revengeful wishes that aint close to peace and love...

productionwise its all on the average, the script leaves no chance of improvisation, the acts is like the plot...agonized...and the playtime kills the curiousity for sure. Score is made outta ''mental'' mayhem, and colours the films already black and grey waves. Its a film that the grumpy old man cannot and will not recommend, its just one outta the 1000 others of this subgenre out there.

Warning: Spoilers
Okay, we have a family of misfits living together on a farm. We have an older couple, seemingly the mother and father, 2 girls, of apparently different ethnicities, and one white and one black boy. Where did these people come from? How did they become a "family?" Never explained. The youngest boy appears to be dying of exhaustion. So, the "father" angrily drags him away through the mud, as everyone watches. The "mother" sits holding a rifle as they drag the boy away and as they work the farm. She makes the food, too, but, other than spewing religious comments about their god, she doesn't do much else. So, now the young boy is gone, but is inexplicably replaced with a girl. From where? Take a guess because it's never explained. Confused? Me, too. If you want the rest of this awful movie, you'll have to watch it for yourself. It's a boring mess.

I like the movie type, but this is a very weak example of it

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is essentially a plotless version of the village with 90 percent of the movie showing the teen kids being tortured and abused.

I thought that the Village was average at best, but it is Citizen Kane compared to this mess.

There is never an explanation of their beliefs and history. When the father comes out and brings in a random girl halfway through the movie to add to the family, we have no idea of where she came from. It is also clear that the family is not related by blood. We get no explanation of this either. At least in the village, there is an explanation of why the adults have chosen the lifestyle. All of the characters are very one dimensional and there are no real twists except for the one at the end which is given away by the summary paragraph of the movie on Amazon Prime video.

This had potential to be a decent movie if any effort was put into it, but instead we are supposed to blindly follow the movie without any revelation in the same way that the kids are blindly following the parents without any purpose. I would recommend skipping this one.
