I grew up in a family where there was little extra; sometimes nothing. So an episode like this, while comedic, tugs a bit at the heart. Ralph gets his paycheck and the Kramdens and the Nortons are going out for dinner. But Alice discovers a pink slip saying Ralph's services are no longer needed. What ensues is very touching, Alice holding things up as they discuss what they are going to do. Of course, there is going to be a kicker, but it is bittersweet.
