Solid Episode
traffordbage18 October 2020
Episode 2 continues episode 1's "revamp" with stunning visuals and an all round solid, believable episode. The themed intros are also a nice touch.

Even though the gore in the opening scene is slightly overdone, it doesnt take away from the quality at all.

Dialogue was clear and natural, characters are acting the way they are expected to as of season 3.

I gave it 8 stars because I truly believe it's an amazing episode, but it's not thrilling enough for those extra 2 stars. The ending was also exciting, which I hope it continues to be.

Fear may well be coming back.

EDIT: I've seen a few reviews here that are marking it at really low values. Fear was bad for the past two years, based on ratings alone. However these episodes are truly different. Give it a chance, if you cant bare s4 and s5, skip. I wouldn't recommend it, but the more people who watch, the higher the budget, and hopefully - higher the quality.

Fear is dead to some, but these two episodes have been truly interesting and each one wraps up quickly without dragging minor issues across several weeks.

I am honestly so impressed

Warning: Spoilers
Whatever this show is doing keep it up please. Everyone is now for the most part really good again as character. Alicia and Strand were more like themselves from the first 3 seasons then they've ever been, which just makes me really happy. Especially with that scene of Strand sacrificing Sanjay to the walkers, which is in line with his character. The writing just somehow got better for everyone, even the antagonists, who now feel like an actual threat and obstacle for our characters. It's not just the writing but the cinematography and directing it all feels so much more grittier then ever before. The action is also miles better then the action in the previous season, even if it was only brief. I love the twist at the end with Virginia revealing her true intentions to Strand. Not sure where that's going but I'm excited to see. And to top that twist off we learn at the end that Daniel, who we have assumed in this episode has now forgotten who he his via head injury, is faking it when he meets up with Morgan. I can't wait to see where that goes and what's next for Daniel and for everyone in general.

Overall, I'm not gonna say this show is back, but if it keeps doing this, then it might just be back

Final rating: 8.5/10

Another visually stunning and dark episode, the show continues in the right direction
Holt34419 October 2020
The season premiere was superb, and this episode is as good. We saw Morgan Jones change as a person into something in between the Clear person and aikido person, but the question we the viewers have is who saved him from his near death and where's everyone else of our beloved characters. This episode follows Alicia, Strand and Salazar in Lawton. Lennie James, the person who plays Morgan actually served as director and he did one hell of a good job. As the previous episode, there's some beautiful shots and fantastic camera work and angles.

There's some great world building in this episode as it should be when they introduce a new area and settlement, Lawton is a traditional old western town but there's more to it than a normal settlement. There's also new characters that we got introduced to but the most important one in my opinion is Dakota which is the little sister of Virginia, we get to know much more about Virginia as a person and what she is trying to build. One of the reasons why I disliked S4 and S5 is how the showrunners made changes to characters like Strand, Salazar and Luciana, this episode alone fixes Strand and he's his old self again which is a blessing to see, the same goes for Salazar I believe as he's back being intelligent and having schemes. I think the writers have learned from their mistakes and they are really building something fantastic here, so far its as good as season 3 and it's looking like it will only get better.

So far we haven't really gotten anything super important events other than a buildup and lots of character development which means next week's episode has to be eventful as the trailers have shown a very eventful first half. Episode 6.02 was fantastic from start to finish, emotional and unpredictable. There were some fine acting performances as well, Colman Domingo and Alycia Debnam-Carey were phenomenal.

This episode had great character development for certain characters which really makes them shine in a whole new light. The cinematography is absolutely gorgeous which makes it really appeasing to look at. The acting and the action was on point. I didn't feel bored one tiny bit. This episode was fire.

Not bad.

The story line is a little bit sloppy but it is going way better than 4-5th seasons. I really don't like what they are doing with Strand but the show is going a lot better with our new Morgan. Only story line I wonder about this season is his.

Shockingly Good Episode
walker504019 October 2020
Even after last weeks strong season opener, I still wasn't convinced that Fear had officially turned the corner. But after watching tonight's episode, that just might be the case. This is what compelling television is all about folks.

An ok-ish episode. I get we're eager to see something good after how awful last season was and this episode promises to give us back our originals but I wouldn't get too excited, there were some cringe moments.

Narrative Perfection
littlebizzare27 October 2020
Fear The Walking Dead continues its return to form with an episode almost as intense and gripping as the premiere. This installment was mostly focused on Strand (Colman Domingo) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam Carey) and what has occurred to them since the season 5 finale. Revelations are made. Plot progresses in such natural and fast ways. It's compelling, it's rapidly fast paced.

Characters are more layered. The characterization of Strand is very strong. Alicia's also branching out (finally) rather than being the soft survivor that Season 5 made her out to be. The world building was shown in this episode as we saw the town of Lawton, we met various new faces. And there was A LOT OF DEATHS. Not major deaths but minor characters dying left and right.

The only thing I found bizarre about this week's installment is the poor characterization of the antagonists, the antagonists aren't as compelling or frightful as their leader. Virginia is a good villain, her dialogue is way more realistic and I prefer her over the main show's recent villain (Beta, not Alpha. Alpha was incredible). Not to mention, Colby Minifie is a powerhouse.

Fear is continuing it's pattern of great installments. Hopefully this level of quality continues.

Could Have Been Great
jsmot21 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the majority of the episode but there were 2 major fatal flaws in the writing.

The opening scene: there is large group of walkers pressing up a garage door, the door opens...somehow none crawl out, they just reach out and drag people in. Quite simply, this isn't how it works, you can't just change their behavior for dramatic effect. As a viewer it just makes me not care.

Alycia/Strand's attempt: set up a metal enclosure for them to walk in, trapping them there once they get out of the garage. Hey, that's smart, good job! Next step, open the door and let them out. ...Wait what? They are trapped there just kill them with your spears... and I'm back to not caring.

Early on in the TWD/FTWD stupid mistakes and poor planning were understandable, the characters were new to this. Now they are supposed to be the few survivors who have figured out how to live in this world, so plans this stupid are just lazy writing and make me not care about the characters. It shouldn't be that hard to put the characters in challenging life or death situations without it being caused by their own stupidity.

Pretty Good, but what was that opening scene??
eaj-943-87490519 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So people are giving this episode a 10/10 but are forgetting about the idiotic opening scene. So there's a room of walkers who are all sticky, but everyone gets killed because they slip on this liquid and are pulled in the room cuz the door won't close. Instead of just backing up everyone tries to kill them, only to slip and get killed. Then the main dude tells some guy to shut the door, but he doesn't, so he goes to shut the door and dies just like everyone else. Pretty stupid people here. Rest of the episode is pretty good tho.

I know it's only episode two. But I really liked it, and I see a lot of potential for this season. However, I can also see it sinking really fast if they don't keep this type of writing.

Colby Minifie
Ganadai1 November 2020
Something about Colby Minifie makes me cringe every time I see her. I would say it's the accent, but she doesn't have an accent in The Boys, and I cringe every time I see her in that show too. It's like she's trying to hard to act and comes off as unbelievable. The other actors seem laid back and play off each other well, but Colby seems nervous and it shows in her acting.

Video Game Cutscene
TentativeDruid19 October 2020
Majority of the episode felt like a cutscene from a video game. The awkward silences without any background music, at least most of them and even some of the hand movements as well. The long pauses in a conversion between two characters, for example - "We can't hold her off.", and then the reply - "No....we can't.". It all just felt odd, compared to last week's episode, The End Is the Beginning. All in all this was an ok episode.

"Welcome to the Club" is effective in its exploration of themes such as power dynamics, sacrifice, and survival ethics
fernandoschiavi26 April 2024
After an incident with a high-ranking member of the Pioneers, Alicia and Strand are taken to a warehouse to eliminate a large herd of walkers, and are later joined by Charlie and Janis. Meanwhile, Daniel appears to be suffering from amnesia, causing confusion among his allies. Dakota, Virginia's younger sister, joins them in clearing the walkers, and inadvertently kills two of the Pioneers.

In the midst of the battle, Strand secretly stabs a fellow prisoner, Sanjay, and sacrifices him to the walkers in order to gain the upper hand. Later, Virginia praises Strand for his work as a leader, and gives him an important position for the community. Strand, feeling guilty for his role in Sanjay's death, assigns Alicia to another settlement. That night, Daniel is attacked by a walker, but is saved by Morgan, and reveals he still has his memory.

This episode underscores the themes of leadership, oppression, and rebellion, woven through a narrative filled with tension and desperate survival tactics. Set against the backdrop of Virginia's tyrannical rule, the episode highlights the lengths to which people will go for power and control, and the corresponding depths others will sink to in order to resist that control.

The central focus of "Welcome to the Club" is on Alicia and Strand, who find themselves in a precarious situation after being captured by Virginia. They are forced, along with other prisoners, to clear a highly dangerous molasses warehouse filled with walkers. This task is not only a punishment but also a test set by Virginia to determine their worthiness for a more significant role within her community. The dire conditions and the almost certain death they face serve as a powerful metaphor for the struggle against oppressive leadership, and it pushes both Alicia and Strand to their limits, both physically and morally.

One of the episode's most intense scenes involves the group's struggle to escape the sticky death trap of the warehouse. The use of molasses adds a unique and horrifying element to the typical walker encounter, as it slows down both the living and the undead, creating nail-biting suspense. Moreover, it's in this desperate situation that we see significant character development, particularly from Strand, who makes ruthless decisions that underline his complex nature. His actions, driven by a desire to survive and rise in rank, contrast sharply with Alicia's more compassionate leadership style, setting up an intriguing conflict between their philosophies.

Critically, "Welcome to the Club" is effective in its exploration of themes such as power dynamics, sacrifice, and survival ethics. The episode excellently portrays how extreme circumstances can bring out both the best and the worst in people. It also raises questions about what it means to be a leader in a post-apocalyptic world and whether the end justifies the means. The performances by Alycia Debnam-Carey and Colman Domingo are particularly strong, adding depth to their characters' internal conflicts and decisions.

It's all about dictators
ramblingvagabond19 October 2020
All the TWC shows are nothing but evil dictators. Don't they think we are sick of that yet? Aren't they sick of trotting out evil dictators over and over and over and over and over again? They are all the governor, they are all the same. We don't want a zombie show that is nothing but evil dictators and their henchmen doing evil things. We want to see a zombie show about zombies.

This episode was awesome, the acting in here was just on point, they need to give more screentime to alicia clark, she is the last one of the oc and her plots are usually the best
