A great episode with a wonderful, mature audience.

Silver Threads is a great example of Village Hall, a small, almost inconsequential story line, boosted with the most glorious set of characters, some fine performances and familiar faces.

As always with this series, the more outrageous, over the top and eccentric the characters are the better, and Silver Threads has its share, I applaud it for using a primarily older group of actors. Sylvia Coleridge, Gwen Nelso, Valerie Lush and Derek Francis are all glorious.

As always, it's a drama that's probably too slow for today's audiences, but I enjoyed being absorbed by the characters for forty five minutes. It shows how much times have changed, and shows that some of the older generation had a bit more community spirit then is the case now, with so many older people facing loneliness.

Great fun. 8/10
