I love Bones, and this episode was a bit... intimidating -if you can call it that- at first, but the story carried itself. I personally don't think that Cam's strong or popular enough to carry her own episode, especially when it's pushing our two favourite anthropologist/FBI duo aside, but not only was the Angela-Edison saga there to help support the episode, the story had much to do with it. Hart's dedicated one or two episodes to Bones' personal life, mainly her parents, and also Hodgins', as his ex -who married his best friend- was suspected for murder, why not Cam? Sure, we all didn't really like Cam when the relationship between her and Booth started, but it quickly faded. I'm glad she got a personally emotional episode, and we got a peek into her life away from the lab or Booth, and so we can humanize her, and she got to deal with it herself, not only or really through our favourite crime-fighting team. I loved Angela's storyline with Dr. Edison, Zack's temporary replacement -and I say that because Zack's in no way replaceable; Angela got to play off another character, and Michala (who plays Angela) gets to play off yet another actor. The extent of how close these characters are and what a family they are is evident, but as Dr. Edison's a newbie and is not yet used to the loose environment, I thought his reaction was normal and great -it was human. Bringing his girlfriend in and trying to make it clear to Angela that he's involved and is greatly satisfied in the bedroom department was hilarious, but a bit over-the-top at the same time. Sure, I repeat myself: it wasn't needed, but great comedy, especially for me; it lightens the mood. Bones' jealousy of Cam taking over was what I would expect and want. The humanity of Bones was evident again, as she subtly brought up her own history of being an orphan, so to speak, and make Cam realize Michelle (Cam's ex-fiancé's -and the victim's) needs a home, and Cam's the only one to give it to her. I thought it was a classic that Michelle went to get the other shaker, but Cam took that as rejection, as Michelle flew off without a word.
I'm giving it a nine because it was an emotional episode and that glimpse into Cam's life, and the reason why she previously claimed she'd never risk her luscious body for a screaming, vomiting baby; it was an episode that was needed. The nine is also for the comedy and sexual tension. I'm not giving it a ten, however, because Cam's not yet a strong character, and I think she got the episode a little too soon. The hair and make up department went overboard with the hair and make up; she looked a cross between a whore and a witch -not meaning to sound too harsh there, but it can't really be helped.
