Howie Mandel’s Alevy Prods. and Core Media Group have signed a first-look deal for Mandel and Alevy to executive produce scripted and unscripted TV and digital projects. Mandel and his Alevy partner Mike Marks currently executive produce the TBS hidden camera series Deal With It. Mandel previously worked with Core president Marc Graboff at NBC, where Mandel hosted Deal Or No Deal, earning an Emmy nomination, and continues to serve as a judge on America’s Got Talent. “Over the course of my long-standing relationship with Howie, I have come to appreciate him as possessing that extremely rare combination of being an incredibly talented performer as well as a smart, savvy producer,” Graboff said. Other shows produced by Alevy Prods. — repped in the deal by Wme, 3 Arts Entertainment and attorney Bill Sobel — include Mobbed, Take It All and Howie Do It.

Viewers have come to know Howie Mandel as a judge on NBC's "America's Got Talent" or host of "Deal or No Deal." But he's also an actor and a stand-up, and all of this happened haphazardly.
He launched his career by taking the stage at Yuk Yuk's in Toronto, with "no intention of ever pursuing" comedy, acting or anything in entertainment, Mandel says. "In the mid-'70s, stand-up became the new disco, and people were being discovered on 'The Tonight Show' like Freddie Prinze, and Robin Williams was blasting off. Comedy clubs sprouted up all over."
Mandel, engaged to be married and working in retail, had his life mapped out, but once onstage he found he could make people laugh. Soon after, he found himself at a Los Angeles comedy club on amateur night and took the mic. After he did his shtick, a man approached and asked...

Business is moving forward for Killer Holiday with the addition of a new well traveled horror musical score writer. Kurt Oldman will join the project and will set the ambiance with his musical talents.
Directed by Marty Thomas, Killer Holiday promises to introduce viewers to a new face of fear in Melvin "Spider" Holiday (Michael Copon), a predator who stalks the roads and leads his victims into a creepy abandon amusement park. (Personally I've never come across an abandon amusement park in my travels. But if I ever happen upon one, you can bet your sweet ass the last thing I'm going to do is go poking around in there.)
In addition to Copon, Killer Holiday stars Rachel Lara, Alex Mandel (Do you think he can blow up a rubber glove and slide it on his head like his old man? Those were the days!) and Rachel Wixom.

Ah, spring break. The parties, the raging alcohol consumption, the glistening hardbodies, the carefree sexual experiences. Such a shame that this annual reincarnation of Sodom has to so frequently be the backdrop for slasher film carnage. Can't we just let the girls wiggle around in their skimpy bikinis? Is all the filleting of young flesh really necessary?
In the new film Killer Holiday someone thinks it is. And that someone is the newest slasher on the block, Melvyn "Spider" Holiday (Killer Holiday, get it?), played by Michael Copon. He tracks his prey along Route 66, eventually following them to an abandoned amusement park (Come on victims, an abandoned amusement park? You're just begging for it! Didn't you see Funhouse?) where all sorts of nastiness is promised.
Killer Holiday is the first film in what is hoped to be a new horror franchise from Ridiculous Pictures with an expected 2012 premiere.

Word of a new Canadian indie horror film (in 3D of course) has hit the Net, and several things about it caught our eye. First off, Christopher Lloyd is part of the ensemble cast, it's being directed and co-produced by the highly regarded young actress April Mullen ("Howie Do It"), and it introduces a new concept to horror fans: zemons!
Per The Hollywood Reporter Wango Films is now shooting Dead Before Dawn in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and the Emmy-award winning Lloyd will play the occult shop-running grandfather of Casper Galloway, played by Devon Bostick.
Martha MacIsaac, Brandon Jay McLaren, Brittany Allen, Kevin McDonald, and Rossif Sutherland all co-star in the film, which was written by Tim Doiron, who co-produces with Mullen (pictured right). Avi Federgreen is executive producing.

I've been pretty curious about Bruce McDonald's This Movie is Broken ever since it was first announced. The idea behind the film is definitely unique: it combines a fictional dramatic narrative with real live footage of the Canadian band Broken Social Scene [1]. To make things even more interesting, the live footage was crowdsourced -- in other words, they invited fans to submit their own videos of the band's concerts for use in the film. The movie premiered at SXSW a couple of months ago, and now it looks like it will get a theatrical release (in Canada anyway) sometime this summer. Bruce McDonald is certainly no stranger to oddball cinematic experiments, having directed such films as Hard Core Logo, The Tracey Fragments and Pontypool. I still really have no idea what to expect from this film, and I'm not even sure if it will appeal to anyone who isn't a fan of the band.

Canada is mainly a country of exports. This is due to a relatively low ratio of people to land and the fact that we have a lot of really good shit! As a matter of fact, the current economic crisis has affected us mostly because you silly Americans can't afford to buy our stuff anymore. Why won't you buy our goods, America, we have everything you want. Timber and diamonds, gold and uranium, power and water, food and oil (wait, you still buy that last one) and entertainment. We've given you so many talented entertainers that we've barely managed to keep any for ourselves. I'm really getting tired of our country putting so much time, effort, and money into producing a brilliant artist only to have them run to the border whenever you people flash a bit of green at them. Are we a nation of hookers? Nay, we just like sharing what we have.

Howie Mandel has been tapped to host Gsn's Game Show Awards.
The two-and-a-half-hour ceremony, which airs on the cable network June 6, will honor classic and contemporary game shows, with tributes to pioneers Bob Barker ("The Price is Right"), game show producer Mark Goodson, and host/producer Monty Hall ("Let's Make a Deal").
"I want the Game Show Awards to be unlike any awards show on television," Mandel said.
"I am trying to convince Gsn to hire four co-hosts for the night. We'll see what happens," he quipped, referring to the ill-fated experiment at last year's primetime Emmy Awards which was hosted by the five nominated reality hosts, including Mandel.

You may have missed Howie Mandel's new show Howie Do It so far, but now that NBC has given the go ahead to several more episodes, you might as well check it out. Howie Do It is neck-and-neck with Game Show In Your Head in terms of entertainment value, but at least Howie Do It has Howie. Both shows are a little bland actually, and somehow don't seem to quite rise to the production, or entertainment value of prime time television. Still, they're both not bad choices for a bit of a laugh. The problem thus far with Howie's show is that it is very hit or miss, and many of the gags go on far too long. Howie Do It is a hidden camera show that plays practical jokes on unsuspecting people, mostly out of work actors so far, and the bonus gag is that Howie is...

Howie Mandel may be back to work now, but the dramatic events following his heartbeat irregularity were intensified by his acute germaphobia. "It was no treat for me," the Deal or No Deal host told People. "It was really hard. I couldn't put on the gown or the customary clothing. I remained clothed and in my boots on the gurney and in the hospital." While some may have thought the Howie Do It prankster was joking around, 53-year-old Mandel has been open about his obsessive-compulsive disorder since the game show kicked off in 2006. The irregular heartbeat, however, was discovered during an insurance company-mandated checkup while the star was on location in Toronto. The treatment-an Ekg...

Toronto -- “Deal or No Deal” host Howie Mandel was rushed to a Toronto hospital Monday night with an apparent irregular heat beat, and is expected to released Tuesday.
"He did not have a heart attack,” Mandel spokesman Lewis Kay said in an email statement.
Toronto-born Mandel, 53, is expected to be back at work Tuesday shooting an episode of “Howie Do It,” a hidden camera prank show that debuted on NBC last Friday night.
Toronto police said paramedics rushed to the downtown Sheraton Center Hotel on Monday night to respond to Mandel, who remained conscious and talking as he was transported to St. Michaels Hospital.
The made-in-Canada “Howie Do It” series is a co-venture between NBC and Global Television.

"You've seen other prank shows, other hidden camera shows. Wait till you see Howie Do It!" Better yet, wait till you hear the same bad, groan-worthy pun at least 25 times within the span of 60 minutes. Wait until you've seen a pointless, utterly toothless Candid Camera rip-off so unfunny it makes Ashton Kutcher look like Ricky Gervais. Wait, America, please wait until you hear the chorus of the 1995 Montell Jordan hit "This Is How We Do It" played after so many bland jokes you actually start to feel sorry for Montell Jordan because his creation is being so misused and permanently tarnished in this way. (No amount of residuals could be worth that humiliation.) Please, everyone, just wait, and never stop waiting. Believe me, unless you're a masochist, a critic, or a relative of Howie Mandel's, you don't want to see how Howie does it. ...

Toronto -- Local competition is growing for once unassailable U.S. network series in Canadian primetime.
On Monday night, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. comedy "Being Erica" bowed at 9 p.m. with 575,000 viewers, according to Bbm Nielsen Media Research.
That's a strong opening for the local comedy, particularly given that it aired against the World Junior Hockey Championships on the Sports Network, which saw 3.7 million Canadians tune in to watch Canada defeat Sweden.
That showing represented the largest-ever audience for the Canadian sports channel, according to Tsn, and the most-watched program on Canadian TV since last September.
That's a sharp departure from just two years ago when Canadian shows rarely cracked the top-20 on major domestic network schedules long dominated by U.S. series.
