The Roller Skating Craze
boblipton17 May 2020
Lea Giunchi's parents have locked her in her room for reasons not specified -- frankly, she need to be kept in a barrel -- and she wants to go roller skating, but she can't. It's not that she doesn't have the roller skates; she does. It's not that she can't go out of her window, falling onto an unlucky passerby. It's that she cannot skate, as this funny short comedy demonstrates.

When she did slapstick, Miss Giumchi's character was a slightly scatterbrained, willful daughter. In common with most Italian slapstick comedians of the era, she had a natural talent for destruction that should have won them the First World War in a matter of minutes. What makes these comedies so funny is that she seems like a normal, pig-headed young girl that you might meet in reality.
