Once she was a woman... Sometimes you can trust a woman... But now she's all Mothaaa!

***SPOILERS**** It's when ex-convict Joe Klemer, Larry J.Blake, got gunned down outside private eye Paxton, Gordon Wynn, house it was thought that he was killed by Paxton in trying to rob the place as he tried to make his getaway. As things soon turned out it was Klemer who was the victim in this whole affair in trying to put an end to Paxton blackmailing him over something that Klemer was responsible for. Getting the goods on his estranged old lady Cara, Doris Singleton,in a messy divorce case he was involved with her.

This very complicated mess that freelance photographer Mike Kovac,Charles Bronson, got himself into had to do with Klemer's insurance policy he had made out with the person who murdered him Paxton. That's in Klemer trying to provide his eight year old daughter Marcy, Shari Lee Bernath, with a $20,000.00 insurance policy that he made out to her five years ago. The only catch is that it doesn't cover Klemer or his daughter Marcy if he's killed while committing a crime. Something that both Paxton and his partner Randolph, Don Rhodes, made sure that he would commit!

It takes a while to figure out what exactly is going on but when Kovac is provided by his friend in the NYPD Liet. Donovan, James Flavin, with the fragment of a burnt photo that the dead Joe Klemer had on him at the time of his death that everything about this baffling case started to come into sharp focus! Including the person who was in the photo Mrs.Cara Klemer!

***Doing lots of legwork Kovac tracks down the place where the mysterious photo was taken in a walk-up sleaze-bag hotel room just outside the run down neighborhood along the Brooklyn Bridge. It's there five years ago that Cara got into a fight with her then boyfriend whom she was cheating on her husband, Joe Klemer, and ended up murdering him! Not only did Paxton who broke into the hotel room, with his partner Randolph, get the goods on Cara's cheating by snapping the photo but also of the murder with her being caught red handed committing it! It was in fact Klemer, in trying to prove her infidelity in court, who hired him to take it! Now all these years Paxton had been blackmailing Klemer with the photo in him threatening to have little Marcy's mom Cara, whom Klemer has no use for, put away for life or strapped into the electric chair at Sing Sing for 1st degree murder! That's until Klemer got sick and tired of paying blackmail money and decide to take matters into his own hands! That in the end lead to him being murdered himself!

A femme fatale and a cute kid

Chuck turns detective again, when a sleazeball (Jesse White -never trust this guy!) shows up seeking help in an insurance case. A guy was killed supposedly trying to rob a safe, but it turns out the creepy blackmailer killed him when he finally refused to keep making payments some five years after his wife was caught in a murder, cueing the blackmail.

The dead man's daughter is in an orphanage and the insurance will benefit her if Chuck and prove the dead man wasn't a burglar but just an innocent man.

The story and especially the ending is way too contrived to pass muster, but Doris Singleton as the femme fatale/widow plus Shari Lee Bernath as the cute kid make the show watchable.
