This episode shows something that needed to be said, We are tired of chosen one stories! This episode subverts expectations by saying "If we all waited around to be chosen, we would die waiting."
Wow! This episode furthers the story, the world, and overall is a solid episode.

Good for people who don't know much about the show

This episode isn't bad for if you happen to catch it on T.V. and you don't know much about the series. It's mostly a self-contained episode and I feel this show implied from the first episode, is going to be more of a serialized kind of show. But if you're binge watching the show, this episode isn't going to be one of the best.
After watching it, I had this empty feeling that I didn't know what it was but I didn't get that same feeling I got from the first episode. So, I watched it a couple more times to get a clear opinion on what I feel it's missing. All I can say is it was a decent episode but was quite disappointing. The first episode set up the show and the characters well and it seems like that it was going to be a Little Witch Academia kind of thing where the girl learns how to become a witch but in this one, they threw that out the window for her instead trying to become the chosen one.
Another con I had with this episode is that the characters were quite irritating. Luz is still the meek mary-sue she was in the first episode and King and Eda irritated me a couple of times, mentioning they hate wizards and humiliating Luz about the chosen one. I thought that was unprofessional of someone who's mentoring a child who wants to be someone special. They didn't even think to sit her down and kindly explain to her not to trust the wizard and that this all could be a hoax. But their meanness had ended up driving her to want to go on this quest. And I get it, they're witch and demon, of course they're probably not going to act like saints.
What's really wrong is Luz didn't even say anything. At her age, she should be more assertive and from what we've seen of her, she tends to be meek towards people who aren't evil creatures, such as her mother who wants her to go to camp to not be herself. Yes, she causes a lot of trouble and she needs a lesson on how to not be getting too into her head but it's still ok for her to be weird just not too weird. Maybe her being more assertive could be character development for her and if it is, then that's fine. I don't mind her being more easy-going as a lot of kids her age are really arrogant, selfish, and stubborn but her easy going nature should be toned down some.
I think what could've been fixed about this episode is that they should've somehow worked the becoming a witch thing into the chosen one story somehow. This episode has an interesting premise of making fun of the chosen one trope and a couple of funny moments. And I can clearly see that part of Luz's character is that she wants to be special, that's why she wants to be the chosen one but it needed to work the overarching story in there.
A couple of things that interest me is that Eda forgot about Luz and that she and King hate wizards. We got a few questions coming up about this show that I'm really curious to see get answered later on.
I feel like that the third episode might get back into the story of the series so hopefully it picks up pace there because I really feel like this show has potential.

This episode starts off with better jokes than the first episode, but the rest of it has a bit of dull mediocrity to it. It still does a good job establishing character traits, as well as the general themes of the show, but there is a lot to be desired.

It was an entertaining episode overall, and I genuinely wasn't expecting the twist in the end. Buuut, it's not the most interesting part of The Owl House world. I'm glad this episode there's actually common sense and Luz really isn't some "chosen one".
