Got me in the feels
fskea25 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Aargh none of my friends are into this and the ones that are haven't seen this episode yet.. I see the end coming and I will be a crying mess ... I think Tahani is done with the afterlife she's not got a love interest and has validation in her life now. Eleanor and Chidi are happy but how long will they want it to last. My favourite ever programme

Quite the bummer

Warning: Spoilers
After getting to the good place, the group discovers that they can do whatever they wish to do but they find out that people here are zombies that lost all sorts of enjoyment. They did everything they want and got bored. Their brains started to get bland n dull. The group come to the realization that what makes thing enjoyable fun or precious is that ehemperal nature of it not the actual event. So led by Kevin, they come up with the idea of building another door for people who get bored of this eternity and wanna find peace somewhere unknown, it is kinda like having a ticket out of the whole universe for good this time, a place where you are supposed to find peace, eternal peace. Quite the thought-provoking episode. So excited to watch the finale and see the number of people that will give up on an eternity of bliss.

Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes this show is silly and ridiculous. And that's not a bad thing. But it can also hit you in the feels with great characters who really band together and fall in love. During season 3 I actually decided that Eleanor and Chidi are up there with some of my favorite fictional couples. But it can also hit you with some really thought provoking genius concepts. This episode pretty much has all of those things. A lot of people wonder if heaven is just going to be floating around on clouds being constantly happy. I'm glad this episode addressed that question. There is one thing that I was hoping they were going to mention. While I think having that exit option is a great idea. I think there is an aspect of heaven that we don't think about. I think in heaven we aren't going to be satisfied just doing whatever we want all the time. Humans need to feel like they have a purpose. They want to leave a legacy and create things. We feel proud of our work. Obviously there are lots and lots of crappy jobs in this life. But I think in heaven all the work we will be doing will be satisfying and make the universe a better place. Because there is a season for all things. There is a time to drive around in go carts with monkeys. And also a time to spend time cuddled up on a couch with our loved ones looking at a stunning view. And there is also a time to work and add something to our existence. All of these things make up a beautiful happy life. I still enjoyed the episode a lot. And maybe this will be addressed in the last two episodes.

Well we're almost there, it's been a great ride. As we start to wrap up to the end of this wonderful show, it's become so satisfying to see episodes like this. This episode is brilliant. Making conflict out of something that is supposed to be perfect. Amazing writing. Can't wait to see how it all works out in the end

NOW I KNOW WHY THE FINAL EPISODE IS CALLED WHENERVER YOURE READY
srvtoyota24 January 2020
First of all, I gotta say that they did a great job setting up a final episode, I mean, no spoilers but if you've seen the episode you know why the next and final episode of The Good Place is called "Whenever You're Ready". I think this was such a depressing episode until the big realization, it made it super hopeful and exciting. I'm not ready for these 6 amazing characters to say goodbye to us, but I guess all good things have to come to an end. I would say that these last two seasons have not been anywhere near as good as the first two seasons but the last couple of episodes have been some of the best, even though they left some characters and some plot points forgotten. I hope they really stick the landing with the final one. I'm gonna miss this show, Michael Schur you genius!

Superb reading of the human experience as a bridge to the series finale
lettremode-6855426 January 2020
Without spoiling the very important experience of watching this episode, this show gets serious again camouflaged in silly, not-so-clever humor that still works because it's quite self-conscious. What I really love in this particular episode, besides amazing performances by the cast, is the very fundamental point of human existence that most people won't ever realize in their life. The show puts it quite nicely without dictating rules or being moralist. I'm so thankful for a production like this and feel honoured being able to get to this point - as someone else said, the show isn't as marvelous writing-wise as it used to be through season 1 to season 2, but it still have standalone decidedly incredible episodes all seasons - and I'm glad to tell you this is one of them.

Wow. Just Wow.

In a world ... that prides itself on being competitively shrill and vapid and meaningless, interacting with the depth of thought that went into this episode felt like being washed with a warm wave of deep soothing relief.

Oh, and Michael's weed in a standard baggie was a throwback to when Ted Danson was in college. Today's weed comes in fancy bags, dog.

Heaven is hell without God
desertheo195726 January 2020
I have followed The Good Place these four seasons, and even before the big reveal at the end of the first season was convinced that one of the things the story shows is that a heaven that we earn would indeed be a living hell. Now at the end, we have a heaven without God that is also an unending hell. Without intending to do so, I think that The Good Place is a validation of the Christian concepts of both a heaven that is not earned, but is given by grace, and that heaven without a God can scarcely be called heaven. To God be the glory!

Warning: Spoilers
I type this just a few weeks after Ted Danson's Mr Mayor got axed after two seasons. Perhaps this will allow The Good Place to be rebooted please to restore the sparkle that seemed to be missing from season 4.

Anyway, Lisa Kudrow makes a guest appearance in the penultimate episode of The Good Place. I still have to watch the final episode of The Good Fight from last season, so this along with watching the final episode of The Good Place is coming up.

The big reveal in this episode is kind of a whiplash one that caught me off guard I guess.

Fairy tale sweet kind of ending.....and yet Lame...
garabedian12327 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have been the biggest fan of The Good Place since season 1...Since the very first episode actually..It has this kind of magic to it. Even before the 1st season twist, it was really strong. But that twist..it added something I did not know I had wanted. Mystery! So since that season 1 twist I, no, We have been expecting something amazing to happen. We had come up with theories and wonders and Ideas about what is really going on behind the scenes...Well as it turns out...there was nothing. No mystery, no great secret, just a straight forward process that has no ulterior motives at all...Which is disappointing!...very! So this is not Eleanors test..This is not the misgivings of a boring god...and this is not In Jason's head. No...the afterlife is really messed up and it takes the imagination of a 2 year old to set things straight? The 4th seasons largest problem is its lack of imagination. Even the solutions are pretty lame and unimaginative. Just add a kill switch and suddenly people forget their infinity of boredom? And speaking of boredom, how do you get bored when your imagination is your only limit? This makes me think the people in the good place are as dull as rocks...So we add a kill swtich and that fixes everything...thats some lame writing right there! In my opinion, this Series Finale ruined the whole series!
