Useless

This has to be the worst show ever. I have watched and still watch all the other Holmes shows. But if I want to watch a reality show about designing...I'd watch a designing show.

Just watched 3 sections in a row showing the designer showing what she wants gor a basement. Not one thing about contruction. I'm sick to my stomach.

Never watching again.

Many mistakes
doreijewl-19 April 2022
Holmes acts like he's the one that fixes Everything, and yet on so many shows , I see mistakes They make. His own employees have installed things wrong , then had to redo. More often than not, he doesn't keep his own designer apprised of what's going on , such as a bulkhead above the fireplace ,, putting a high brick wall ( knee wall ? To who's knee? A giant ? ) in a SUN room ?? All these mistakes were in ONE episode . S1 E11, Tickled Pink . Doesn't instill much confidence if he himself And his employees make This many mistakes .

Still gave it a 6, as the end result is good,,but at a cost of having to repair many of their own mistakes .

Disappointing

On Holmes previous series you could learn something. I used to love it. This series has just way too much talking and not enough of showing of how things are properly fixed. I DVR it so I can fast forward through all of the talking. Sad, he has a lot of good knowledge to share.

Too choppy

Love Mike Holmes, but this show is too choppy. Too many projects going on at once and they don't finish them at the end. No closure. Too hard to follow which house we are fixing.

Not a Make It Right show

This show is more about designs, his son and daughter, implement after repairs are made. The Mike Holmes legacy parts, where he opens walls and discusses what is wrong and how to fix it, are short and lacking detail. His children is more of a soap opera than a fix it show. Used to be you could watch a Mike Holmes show and come away learning something. Not so much now. Watch reruns of his old show, that is time better spent.

Yellow Is Not An Inviting Color

I watched a recent episode and saw experience and intuition lose out to child. The show is built around the father who is obviously a talented artisan, but deferring (when you know you're right) to your amateurish daughter because she has an "eye for design" is always a mistake. Haven't we seen enough of kids working for their parents? I hope the producers wake up because this thing is headed for cancellation.

Not as good

I like his previous shows, but this one is really bad because you have his kids involved with it. I remember Damon working with Mike great team. Working with annoying siblings not so much.

A lot of bad information
I just watched the first episode of season one. Not sure what the dad's qualifications are, licenses held or how long he has been in the construction industry but it seems this network showcases these families for every reason except construction knowledge.

First thing, he is always referring to bad contractors. I guarantee these homeowners are hiring unlicensed fly by night workers because of the cheap prices they are quoted. Licensed contractors are more expensive because they hire licensed subcontractors, carry liability and workers comp insurance and bare the costs of doing things legally.

I have been a florida licensed general contractor for 43 years and take offense to his constant referral of unlicensed hanymen as contractors. When dealing with a real contractor, homeowners have recourse with the contractors licensing body. Mike Holmes apparently has never heard of a recessed shower pan, pressure treated lumber for contact with masonry and concrete. He also referred to window mullions as purlins.

This is why I cringe when a customer says they saw it done this way on HGTV.

Need how to communicate with Mike Hones
delincitamartinez21 February 2022
The show is excellent. I can see how they make the house Safe for the homeowner. My contractor after stripping the laundry room he told me that the building inspector require $2350. Of additional work. Then he threatened me not to close the walls & NOT continue work if I didn't give him the $2350. The inspector said it wasn't true. Rattigan & sons Inc STOLE my money. How do I report this fraud to Mike Hones.

Have been watching many of Mike Holmes with Mike Jr and Sherry for many years. Have learned a lot but would never do my own reno's. He has helped the less fortunate in the past. Have tried to contact him with no success, have a dear friend that needs his assistance.
