This episode is deadly serious. The Kramdens apparently have been wishing for a baby and are on an adoption list. When the baby finally comes, Ralph is furious that it is not a boy. But the little girl immediately grows on him. As is his wont, he gets totally out of control. This manages to have some humor, but it deals with the other side of Ralph. I think the show could have used a bit more sentimentality other than Ralph always getting caught in one of his enterprises.
