There are some episodes of every soap opera(and most other series, especially the ones with ongoing story lines)that just...exist.There's nothing especially good or bad about them, just a lot of business material.Mitch and Brett are both on their way out but haven't quite gone yet.Noah, who went AWOL towards the end of the previous episode, is still missing in this one(and most of the main players in that storyline are kept off stage). And the whole thing ends on a fakey cliffhanger with Sally jumping to an obviously wrong conclusion.

Perhaps the most fun can be had watching the episode in retrospect, from the distance of 2007."If your parents split up, there's no hope for anyone,"Duncan tells the twins.Well they do.But it's not permanent. And interesting that Hayley is the first person to catch Alex's eye-they'll both be in the show long enough for the writers to pair them up on one turn of the relationship merry-go-round.And then things get really complicated.

There's stuff to enjoy of course:Kirsty and Jade's genuine sisterly concern for Brodie;some amusing material with a burglar alarm;Shelley doing what any sane person would do when Colleen comes fishing and showing her the door;and Don and Brett discussing changing times, showing that Don isn't the inflexible authority figure he's often mistaken for.And Danny Raco continues to make an impression as incoming regular Alex, coming across as charming but a bit irresponsible.Ultimately, however, if you miss this one it's not too great a tragedy.
