While not completely consistent, the "Super Ducktales" arc was generally a very enjoyable one and prefer it a little more over the other five part Season 2 'Ducktales' arc "Time is Money". The second part "Frozen Assets" for me was the best and the most creative, with the only episode in the arc to disappoint being the previous one "The Billionaire Beagle Boys Club" (which had, considering the characters, potential to be the best part but was spoilt by the ridiculous story).
As far as the five parts in the "Super Ducktales" arc go, the fifth and last one "Money to Burn" is bang in the middle. Not as good as "Full Metal Duck" and especially "Frozen Assets", but better than "Liquid Assets" and a vast improvement over "The Billionaire Beagle Boys Club". On its own, without judging it against anything else, it is more than solid and concludes the arc very satisfyingly, doing exactly what a story arc conclusion should do.
There is not an awful lot wrong with "Money to Burn" actually in my mind, though the initial set up was on the far fetched side and moments early on happen somewhat too conveniently, like the aliens appearing out of nowhere and disrupting the momentum temporarily somewhat.
However, much of the story enthrals and once the adventure kicks in it is non-stop excitement with touches of genuine heart. MEL also adds a lot and it is very difficult to not feel for Scrooge. Fenton adds a lot of heart to this episode and seeing the good in both him and Gizmoduck is touching and sees the viewer seeing another side to them. Making me so happy at how far Fenton has come on as a character since being introduced in a mixed bag way in "Liquid Assets". Scrooge's behaviour is easy to buy and helps make the ending rewarding and not too pat.
Still continue to have no problems with the animation, the vibrancy and attention to detail being great. The scoring is typically dynamic and the theme song is irresistible. The smartness in the writing remains too, as does the ability in making a story that excites and is emotionally investable. The characters are engaging and the voice acting suits them perfectly, great to hear how well Hamilton Camp has settled so quickly into the character and show.
All in all, very solid. 8/10
