Like a wave returning to the ocean..

Not gone.. just changed. Well.. still gone. But what an end. The rare show with a complete arch from beginning, middle to end and what an end. Nothing will ever beat Maya Rudolph as the judge this season. Cept maybe Timothy Olyphant playing Justified/Timothy Olyphant with Maya Rudolph.

They may been ready, but I was not.

Nearly every show I have become attached to has let me down with their finales. This is the one of the rare ones that ended absolutely perfectly. I am a grown man who is not afraid to show my emotions and this one had me in a constant state of tears from about 5 minutes in until the credits began. Now I may just start watching the whole thing over again.

BEST SERIES FINALE I'VE EVER SEEN
jackygomes31 January 2020
I wasn't expecting this episode to be so emotional. So well written and acted. I cried from beginning to end. It ended perfectly with a sad but yet beautiful goodbye. This show will be missed.

Sad to see it go. Thankful we got to experience it

The good place wraps up after 4 seasons, in one of the best ways I could have imagined. I loved the run this show had and loved all of the characters. The connection you feel to each person is is unparalleled. I am sad that it's finished, but I think it was the right time to go. The writing has not only been hilarious, but deeply sad and thought provoking at times. This is one of the only shows where I had no idea where the next episode was going to go. Each season surprised me in the best way. It's so easy to look past some of the things this show has achieved, the incredible set and costume design had continued to blow me away. The good place will always be a special show that I can come back to and enjoy. Sometimes, something ending so soon, can make it feel infinitely more special

What a way to go

Felt all manner of feelings during this finale. Definitely not the ending I was expecting, which was what made this finale so great. Glad they touched on some tertiary character storylines and didn't neglect them. Really was a unique narrative journey..

Whilst I'm sad to see this amazing series go, I am glad that it ended when it did and not dragged on like some other shows.

As for the finale I think its the best finale I've seen. A wonderful wrap up, seeing how much everyone's grown, but also lovely seeing everyone choose their own fate..

I held it dry for the first bit but started crying in the restaurant scene and did not stop. Lovely parting messages to take away as well(the wave)

Take it sleazy.

This is an ending...

... that makes grown men cry. Like me. I followed this show from day one and I have rarely seen a more emotionally satisfying and perfect ending.

Maybe aside from M.A.S.H.

This might just be one of the best hour of tv I've ever experienced in my life, i can't begin to describe how much i love this episode. It felt like the proper perfect closure and they somehow gave every character the most suiting ending. It was emotional, funny, heartwarming, nostalgic, awesomely written and showed cased the best acting of the series. The waved hit the shore with this last episode but the water of this unique tv series remains for every bearimy.

I hate to see it go, but I love to watch it leave
ksmcmeen2 February 2020
I don't have a lot to say, I just wanted to be clever with the title and didn't see if this was taken yet.

This was a perfect ending. I know it's a lot to ask, but this needs to be the standard by which sitcoms are measured from now on. The Good Place proves that (1) sitcoms can be smart and audiences will go with it; (2) they don't have to be all about relationship drama all the time; (3) and they don't have to keep going until every last bit of joy has been wrung out of them.

I loved this episode. I loved the whole series bar 2 episodes of season 3 actually. I cried a lot. Touching moment when Jason waited on Janet. He was by far my favourite character Everything was perfect but I would love to know if Michael got into the Good place. I would loved to have seen Janet greet him.

Sad, emotional, but lazy.
GalaxyJoe3 February 2020
The series starts with four selfish people, living selfish lives. The series ends with three of the four people doing selfish things.

When Chidi has his mid-many lifetime crisis, Eleanor responds by doing something "Fun". After hundreds, if not thousands of lifetimes in eternity, you would think they would have gathered the wisdom to realize "Fun" is not the sustenance of life. After Chidi makes his choice, Eleanor seems to come to this awakening by serving someone other than herself, but then she stops.

Eternal life is eternal, and it seems like the writers wanted to have and end to the show rather than the realization what it takes to survive in that kind of environment. Fun is fleeting, and you would think that the group would have come to understand this.

The group grew a great deal, but I would have liked them to grow a little more.

Warning: Spoilers
Geez what a message. But thats not even a drop in the bucket as to what was wrong with this whole episode.

Lets start with the door. First it was just a random idea with no real substance. Michael somehow created it and yet did not know what it did? But he assumed it was to end your after-life. No other ideas, no imagination, their first hunch was just correct and its a death door. This lack of imagination is what was wrong with most of the 4th season

The biggest problem with this episode is that it separated our 4 humans. They each had to face death alone, and they sure dragged it out didn't they? Instead of a quick detour into the next phase of existence together, again as always; we get this depressingly long dragged out episode.

Why is the afterlife so boring. Eleanor had all these amazing ideas but they seemed content to staying inside and reading...oh and parties. This seems to be the limit of their afterlife? No wonder they got bored!

But if Tahani can move on why no one else? This really bugged me. If she was not content to die, then she cannot be the only one. No one else gets another arc into the beyond? They did a fake out with Jason which was funny and yet cheap, overdone, and ruined everything. But my point is the after life is about moving on, not staying still and waiting to die. They fixed the method of getting into the afterlife, but they never tried to fix the afterlife itself, which is what I thought this episode was going to be about. But no, 51 minutes of a long dragged out death row.

It was sad to see our friends go. I knew it was going to be the last episode and for that I was already sad, but then to see them off themselves like this was truly heartbreaking, and for that I cannot forgive the writers. Making me cry like this...Sure it was emotional, it just wasn't that good. Its a cheap shot playing on our emotions rather than some actual good writing!

A fantastic ending
Jeremy_Urquhart31 January 2020
I don't rate individual TV episodes, because I like to keep my ratings to just movies and entire shows so my list of ratings don't get too cluttered or out of control. Rest assured, however- this is a 10/10 episode.

The Good Place proved to be a very interesting journey. For me at least, perhaps it wasn't the most consistent show, but when it was great, it was seriously great. The first season was pretty good up until that fantastic twist in the season finale, which set up a great season 2, which then segued to a less stunning but still quite satisfying season 3. Season 4 I had mixed feelings on, but I had faith in Michael Schur and the rest of the cast and crew, and thankfully my faith was rewarded with this excellent finale.

It's rare for a show to have one of its best episodes be the finale (there's a certain show about dragons and stuff that finished last year, which comes to mind as one that ended as a disappointment to most). But perhaps other than the season 1 finale, this might be the finest single episode of The Good Place.

So why am I rambling on without saying anything specific about what made it great? It's because I'm afraid of ruining anything. I went in with moderately high expectations and no knowledge of what would happen, and I was moved, surprised, and entertained beyond what I imagined I would be. This is coming from someone who likes the show a lot, but hasn't unequivocally loved every single episode.

This finale did not disappoint. Fear not, anyone who thought The Good Place wouldn't stick the landing, especially if you were like me and found season 4 overall slightly weaker than what came before. This ending made it all worth it. Shows as interesting and quirky and likeable as The Good Place don't come around too often, and now that it's all over, I'm thankful for the time I spent watching it.

This final episode reminded me of how beautiful the show and these characters are. They've wrapped this story so perfectly and I couldn't think of a better way to end this show.

Am Blown away. Will miss this show to bits.

Nicely done
hitsounds-625-83292531 January 2020
If you're a human you'll find it hard not to find this a moving and warm finale. Given they were potentially expecting to run longer they managed to avoid this feeling like a rushed final season with the pacing working just fine to the final credits. I'm guessing there was more than one take for some of the moving scenes in the final episode and some of those tears took some controlling. Nicely done.

How finales should be done. Capturing the character growth and essence of the show. Though 4 Seasons seems short in the world of TV shows going on for decades, The Good Place kept to their plan and allowed for a proper closure honouring it's characters and show core message. Take note other Shows, people want quality not longevity.

One of the best
idrincon2 February 2020
The show itself was quite unique and pleasant. But the finale was probably one of the best I have seen in TV. Unassuming, closing the loop on the biggest questions but also leaving some questions open for us, viewers, to close. Emotional and true. A truly masterpiece.

The Good Place- The Greatest Finale
emilydworkin731 February 2020
Wow. This might be one of the best finales of any series ever. As sad as I was to let go of this incredible show after 4 years (and I started bawling about 10 minutes into this XL episode and kept crying til the end), I was left feeling at peace with how things wrapped up. Whatever your beliefs are, this show made you feel like there really was some good in this world and that we should not fear whatever comes next after this life. I definitely think The Good Place will live on and become one of those timeless series that we'll watch over and over again.

So long
AlexLeeThomson2 February 2020
It's great when a TV show writes a proper ending. It almost never happens, but when it does it's often a reminder of how well written the things as a whole has been. This show has always been quite fast paced plot wise, with twists every twenty minutes, so having the finale be far more contemplative was different - but was executed so perfectly it's hard not to appreciate.

A very satisfying ending to an already incredible show
thewehrlekids31 January 2020
The Good Place is the type of show that can really blend Drama and Comedy to make a fun watch for anyone who likes any of Michael Schur's other incredible shows (The Office, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine). As a huge fan of the first 3 seasons, I wanted a finale that could end all of the character's story arc, while also feeling different and would work with the show's tone. Luckily, we got just that. Any fan of the show who loves the characters as much as I do, will agree with me, and you'll get emotional after ending this episode. I can't think of a more satisfying way of ending an already beautiful show with many great life lessons.
