Storyline
Plot Summary |
Who can forget Anna Magnani's face when she fell in "Rome, Open City"? Magnificent and ordinary, comic and tragic, this hugely talented actress, symbol of neorealism, has revolutionized the way women were portrayed in movies. As volcanic on stage and in life, she has impressed Hollywood and was the first Italian to win an Oscar. Based on an unseen and private archival material, from the collections of the Institute Luce and the RAI, to extracts of tv shows, interviews with the greatest stars of the time, and of course some of her outstanding films, this documentary plunges us into the golden age of Italian cinema. And retraces the career of an exceptional actress, who has marked the history of cinema. |
