Emile Cohl was very prolific making many simple animation films around this period. He then seemed to branch out added animation segments to real life films, which is exactly what we have here.
Plot is around man & women who book rooms in stagy looking hotel, & leave their shoes outside their doors to be cleaned, & where the film really comes to life. The shoes seem to not only get together with each other but get their owners together as well, in a sort of early romantic comedy if you will.
Actors are adequate & do their job, & their surrounding are up to the task, but it is the bits of animation which really make the film. Nothing special but shows how director was certainly learning his craft. Is a feel good movie.
