The War is About to Begin
claudio_carvalho24 May 2008
Chloe has a weird behavior forgetting part of her actions, and she discovers that her catatonic mother Moira Sullivan has awakened and is using her ability to control the power of meteor freaks including her. Further, she is arrested in another 33.1 facility and Lex Luthor is trying to force her to bring one escapee back to the site. Moira uses the fugitive to chase Lex, but he attacks Lana in the Luthor's mansion instead. Clark brings Lana to the Smallville Medical Center and after some blood tests, the doctor finds synthetic hormones in her bloodstream that faked her pregnancy. Clark helps Chloe and Moira, but he finds that Lex was using drugs to bring her back from the catatonic state.

In "Progeny", Lana finds that she was not pregnant and Chloe is blackmailed by the evil Lex Luthor.to avoid the article that Chloe is writing about the 33.1. This good episode shows Chloe selling her soul to the devil, and Clark promising the beginning of a war against the evil Lex Luthor. My vote is eight.

An O.K. episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Going into this episode I was very psyched, primarily because this was the first new Smallville episode in a month, but I still thought that this could be a really good episode. The episode is about Lex finding out Chloe's mom(Lynda Carter)has the ability to control meteor freaks,in particular Chloe, and exploiting that ability for his own personal gain.Of course Chloe and Clark eventually get involved and help stop Lex and save the day.Overall this episode just felt flat, although it had some really good moments in it,most of it felt rushed and choppy. But the good moments are just so good that they completely disregard the bad moments.

I should give this episode a lower score, but as I said there are some great moments in this episode and are too good to be missed.A good 8/10!

Chloe's mother!

Warning: Spoilers
A women who was believed to be catatonic is awakened, thanks to an evil force, in one of the better episodes of "Smallville," particularly for this season.

The last time the audience saw Moira Sullivan, Chloe's mother, she was in a catatonic state and unable to speak with the outside world. However, she actually can. Her schizophrenic-type state was a result of drugs given to her by Lex Luthor. As it turns out, Moira has the meteor-freak ability to control other meteor freaks, and Lex wants to use this for his advantage in organizing the freaks for experimentation in his 33.1 franchise. Chloe learns this, and desperately wants to truly see her mother for the first time in 12 years.

This episode has a few minor plot holes, but overall it is very interesting and advances the secret storyline involving Lex's evil scheme in preparation for the end of the season.

Progeny
Colcatron12 April 2011
Over the course of 6 seasons, Chloe's personal story involving her mother's psychiatric problems and meteor abilities has been very slowly building. Most Smallville story arcs are told over the course of a handful of episodes or one full season. In the case of Chloe's story it spans most of the series up until this point, however only featured prominently maybe once or twice a year. Finally in "Progeny" it starts to all come together, as Chloe's mother, and her power is revealed.

This would have been a strong episode as a stand alone in almost any season, but after a long and extremely sporadic build up, the plot's closure between Chloe and her mother feels uneventful and flat. Maybe a heavier build up in preceding episodes would have helped. We'll never know. "Progeny" is a good episode, but not as great as it should have been, and ultimately forgettable by the time the season is over.
