It seems Walter and Ada were not given adequate compensation when their home was compulsory purchased.

They cannot find suitable accommodation. The vicar helps to look for something for them.

Either the deposit and advance rent is too high or the house has a outside privy. I'm old enough to remember going to one of them in winter.

Ada thinks she has received a windfall when she finds her late husband's bank book. It was a case of whether the money will still be there 50 years later.

It is the end of the third series. With Ruth pregnant the writers were planning to introduce a baby for the fourth series and it would mean Walter and Ada would have to move out.

There were some nice moments as they reminisce about the Italian ice cream man who had died.

Then they go to cheer up Fred Carter who has been poorly. He wishes they had never visited as Walter and Ada leave him depressed.
