Maud Rubie calls in Sergeant Cork to help look for her missing daughter Amy Corbin. Maud's husband Alfred is displeased that Maud has called in The Police, convinced his wife is overreacting.
I wasn't expecting to find a twisted, psychological thriller in The Sergeant Cork series, but here it is, it's a story that seems somewhat ahead of its time, poor Amy.
This rates as one of the show's better episodes, I'd perhaps place this one in the top ten. It stands out quite a bit.
Clever twists and turns, you just know that something bad is going to happen to Amy, you don't know what or when, you just know it's going to happen.
Harold really is one twisted guy, the plight of poor Amy is a really shocking one. Brian Osborne was rather good as Harold.
I'm not sure why but I got shades of Copper Beeches, a Sherlock Holmes story, and whilst it's different, it's just the overall vibe that'd similar.
Inspector Fulbright was an interesting addition, and I enjoyed his encounters with Cork.
Marriott's description of Judith was amusing, 'big boned, she could have been a barmaid.'
8/10.
